  • A high school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) credential is required.
  • A PharmD or equivalent pharmacist degree from a non-US accredited school of pharmacy is required.
  • An active pharmacy intern license in the state where the district is located is required.
  • Candidates must be foreign graduates of a non-US accredited college or school of pharmacy before beginning the training program.
  • Candidates must obtain pharmacist licensure in the state where the position is based within 120 days after completing US internship hours; required US internship hours must be completed within 18 months.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills are required.
  • Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends, is required.
  • Candidates must complete required training and obtain required licensure within the applicable guidelines.
  • The role requires the ability to lift up to 20 pounds occasionally, up to 10 pounds frequently, and a negligible amount regularly, including overhead lifting.
  • Required work experience is 0 to 3 years.
Responsibilities
  • Work under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist to maintain a safe and effective retail pharmacy environment.
  • Support patient safety, pharmacy professional practice, regulatory compliance, quality assurance, customer service, inventory management, and workflow management, excluding final prescription verification.
  • Adopt and manage patient care programs to help keep customers and patients healthy.
  • Support the pharmacy manager in motivating, inspiring, and developing pharmacy support staff by balancing assignments to use colleagues’ strengths, address development opportunities, and reduce knowledge gaps.
  • Identify business opportunities and solutions to improve pharmacy growth and performance, and lead the team in achieving specified goals.
  • Adapt plans to changing conditions in a community healthcare setting and collaborate to improve outcomes.
  • Help align colleagues around the organization’s purpose and facilitate a team culture that promotes care, energy, enthusiasm, and pride.
  • Apply acquired knowledge to support healthy outcomes and differentiate the pharmacy from competitors.
  • Greet customers courteously and professionally in-store and at the drive-through window; assist pharmacy and front-store customers with questions and concerns; and answer telephone calls with a warm, friendly greeting.
  • Request help and work with others to resolve issues and maximize customer satisfaction, remove obstacles from customer experiences where possible, and create personalized customer interactions.
  • Perform approved register transactions, including cash, check, and charge transactions, and bag merchandise after sale.
  • Maintain customer and patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and company standards, including protecting confidential drug information in communications.
  • Comply with applicable federal and state laws, rules, regulations, company policies, and standard operating procedures.
  • Meet state and federal licensure requirements within the applicable timeframe.
  • Follow pharmacy workflow and maintain operating standards.
  • Process prescriptions, including translating SIG codes, selecting products, counting and measuring drugs, handling vials and bottles, and labeling prescriptions.
  • Resolve third-party rejections and complete manual claim forms.
  • Perform prescription pick-up procedures in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Access, enter, and retrieve information using the workstation.
  • Maintain product availability by following inventory policies and procedures and using reports to replenish stock as needed.
  • Put away drug orders, except Schedule II drugs, as permitted by law.
  • Provide additional healthcare services as allowed by state regulation, individual certification, and pharmacy leadership, including point-of-care or swab-and-send testing and immunization preparation or delivery.
  • Support the supervising pharmacist in dispensing drugs, reviewing prescriptions, and monitoring compliance.
  • Offer counseling and refer customers to the pharmacist when appropriate; address medical questions within scope; communicate with healthcare professionals; obtain relevant medical history when applicable; and develop pharmacist duties as permitted by law.
  • Communicate with field management and corporate teams as needed and participate in required store operational meetings.
  • Help maintain a clean, organized, and professional pharmacy department according to company standards.
  • Support scheduling according to business needs and the workflow model.
  • Coordinate and implement training and development for pharmacy support staff, recognize colleagues, celebrate success, and complete required training programs.
Desired Qualifications
  • Eligibility to immunize is preferred.
  • Three to five years of related work experience is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, is preferred.
  • Once state regulations are met, foreign graduates are expected to administer immunizations as an essential pharmacist function.

CVS Omnicare completes $250M bankruptcy sale after $440M government settlement

CVS Health's Omnicare division has completed its Chapter 11 bankruptcy liquidation after selling its business operations for $250 million. A Texas bankruptcy judge approved the wind-down plan following a $440 million settlement with the Justice Department over improper billing practices. Omnicare, which served nursing homes and long-term care facilities, filed for bankruptcy in September 2025 after facing a $949 million judgement for fraudulently dispensing drugs without valid prescriptions and billing federal healthcare programmes for false claims. The settlement requires CVS to pay $130 million upfront and cover the remaining $310 million if Omnicare fails to do so by March 2028. GenieRx Holdings, a joint partnership between Milrose Capital and Integro Asset Management, purchased Omnicare's operations. The sale is expected to close next month.
