Requirements
  • A Diploma in Radiologic Technology from an accredited program is required.
  • An Associate's Degree Applied Science Degree is required.
  • A New York State registration in Diagnostic Radiography or a limited permit to practice in New York State is required upon hire.
  • Registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists is required upon hire.
  • Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED Professional Rescuer certification is required upon hire.
  • Candidates must effectively and professionally communicate with patients, family members, co-workers, visitors, and the patient's multidisciplinary care team.
  • Candidates must read and understand policies, procedures, and safety manuals.
  • Candidates must document patient care on appropriate forms.
  • Candidates must be able to problem-solve, perform examinations, and interpret data efficiently and effectively.
  • Candidates must be able to perform arithmetic operations with whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals, and compute rates, ratios, and percentages.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain competent imaging skills.
  • Practice in compliance with Albany Medical Center and department policies, New York State Department of Health requirements, and American Registry of Radiologic Technologists standards.
  • Assist physicians in all aspects of procedures in the assigned area.
  • Provide a safe, positive experience for patients.
  • Act as a mentor and preceptor to new staff and students.
  • Support Albany Medical Center and the imaging department in maintaining proper accreditations.
  • Accurately enter patient data into computer systems.
  • Perform quality assurance on images to ensure diagnostic quality and accurate patient information before sending images to the Picture Archiving and Communication System.
  • Provide patient care appropriate to patients' ages and special characteristics.
  • Perform on-call duties, if applicable.
  • Practice sterile technique when applicable.
  • Perform technical procedures and assist in the clinical evaluation and care of patients in a fast-paced, Level 1 Trauma Facility.
  • Produce diagnostic images.
  • Practice and enforce radiation safety measures under New York State Department of Health Code Part 16.
  • Support teaching and continued learning as technology changes.
