Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Clinical Care Advocate

We’re currently looking for a dedicated Associate SUD Care Advocate with a mental health and substance abuse background. As an integral member of our team, you will play a pivotal role in supporting individuals seeking support for substance use disorders (SUDs). Your primary responsibility will be to engage with clients, provide exceptional customer service and support, coordinate care services, and collaborate closely with other SUD Care Navigators & Advocates, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive and effective care delivery.

The shift for this position will be remote, full time, Monday-Friday, 9-5pm PST/12pm-8pm ET. Please only apply if you are comfortable working these hours!

What you’ll be doing 

• Conduct outbound calls to individuals who have expressed interest in substance use disorder treatment or who may benefit from our services.
• Engage with clients in a compassionate and empathetic manner to assess their needs and provide information about available treatment options.
• Provide information about our treatment programs, services, and available resources to potential clients.
• Coordinate appointments, referrals, and follow-up care to ensure continuity and quality of care.
• Apply active listening, psycho-education, and motivational interviewing skills to understand each member’s needs and provide support as they set goals to decrease substance use and/or to achieve successful recovery.
• Familiar with substance use disorders, ASAM levels of care, and SUD treatments such as contingency management, MAT, detox.
• Provide consultation regarding mental health concerns and family/relationship issues, as appropriate to member needs.
• As necessary, provide in-the-moment support and safety planning for members with safety, risks or crisis.
• Utilize written communication skills to interact with members and providers through email.
• Document information, maintain accurate records and track progress within several systems, including an EHR within required timeframes.
• Identify and problem-solve issues that serve as a barrier or disruption to care.
• Interact with multi-disciplinary teams such as care support, provider operations, and benefits/billing to ensure a smooth member experience.
• Participate in staff meetings, case consultations, and training.
• Follow Spring Health policies and maintain all confidentiality, compliance, and ethical standards.
• Provide support and coverage to other SUD CNs & Advocates on the team. 

What we expect from you

• Master’s degree in substance use and/or mental health field (psychology, social work, counseling) required
• Minimum of 1+ years of SUD clinical care experience.
• Experience with motivational Interviewing, and Triage.
• Excellent listening, written and verbal communication skills.
• Acknowledge and embrace diversity and inclusion.
• Experience working with diverse populations.
• Motivated to go above and beyond for members to provide a high-touch experience.
• Tech-savvy: must be comfortable using various computer platforms and learning new systems, and efficient in tech-related tasks.
• Able to multi-task and context switch!
• KPIs will include: metrics on ticket resolution, connection to care, care conversion, and member satisfaction.

The target base salary range for this position is $32.00-$39.60 Hourly, and is part of a competitive total rewards package including stock options and benefits. Individual pay may vary from the target range and is determined by a number of factors including experience, location, internal pay equity, and other relevant business considerations. We review all employee pay and compensation programs annually at minimum to ensure competitive and fair pay.
