Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • At least two years of work-related skill, knowledge, or experience is required.
  • Experience working with children and knowledge of youth development are required.
  • Experience and ability to create interactive and educational activities are required.
  • A valid state driver's license is required.
  • The candidate must pass a pre-employment background check and drug test.
  • The candidate must be able to organize and supervise members in a safe environment.
  • The candidate must be able to stand, walk, and sit; use hands and fingers on a computer keyboard and other office equipment; and lift or move up to 25 pounds during a standard four- or eight-hour shift.
  • The position requires close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth vision and a constant state of alertness in a safety-sensitive environment.
Responsibilities
  • Plan, implement, supervise, and evaluate activities within assigned program areas, including social recreation and sports, the arts, and character and leadership.
  • Create an environment that facilitates youth development outcomes.
  • Engage youth, stimulate participation, and promote consistent attendance in activities.
  • Establish rapport with youth and provide mentoring, guidance, role modeling, and direction for leadership development, artistic skills, physical activity engagement, and academic progress.
  • Implement and administer programs, services, and activities.
  • Monitor and evaluate programs, services, and activities to ensure member safety, program quality, and club appearance.
  • Support members' emotional and social development and encourage understanding of others and positive self-concepts.
  • Plan and facilitate purposeful activities and group projects.
  • Submit lesson plans, attendance sheets, and other administrative materials.
  • Participate in training, staff development activities, and club staff meetings.
  • Maintain daily contact with club staff, club members, and the supervisor to exchange information, discuss issues, explain guidelines and instructions, instruct, collaborate, and advise or counsel.
  • Clean, set up, and close down the program area daily.
  • Organize and supervise members in a safe environment.
  • Complete Level 2 employment screening, including fingerprinting and criminal records checks, as a condition of employment.
Desired Qualifications
  • Certifications and credentials in the respective skill-based activity are highly preferred.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certifications are preferred.
  • Strong organization, time management, prioritization, communication, interpersonal, and attention-to-detail skills are preferred.
  • Ability to motivate youth and manage behavior problems is preferred.
  • Ability to plan and implement quality youth programs is preferred.
  • Ability to perform multifaceted projects alongside daily activities is preferred.
