About the job

Requirements
  • A bachelor's or master's degree (or international equivalent) in civil, mechanical, or electrical engineering from an accredited college or university, plus 15 or more years of relevant experience; alternatively, 19 or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience developing or delivering major engineering and/or construction projects, such as rail, airports, or other infrastructure.
  • Experience with engineering and construction work planning, scheduling, and cost estimating.
  • Proven experience in a senior integration role delivering complex railway systems through all project phases.
  • Ability to promote programme clarity and enhanced decision-making through data analytics in an evolving programme environment.
  • Good working knowledge of contracts and procurement.
  • Ability to prepare clear strategic planning procedures and user-friendly templates to help multiple delivery work packages execute with common approaches.
  • Broad knowledge of all phases of engineering, field activities, production techniques, building materials, and construction methods for developing various work areas.
  • Understanding of technical issues and costs related to selecting design features and unique engineering design requirements.
  • Ability to solve problems laterally and understand client and entity needs and requirements to provide planning, design, and feasibility solutions in a multidisciplinary and multisector context.
  • Ability to manage and build successful teams in an evolving programme environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and persuade and influence external and internal parties.
Responsibilities
  • Support Metrolinx in strengthening cross-contract schedule alignment by coordinating delivery teams and Project Controls to review key dependencies, align milestone assumptions, and develop coordinated mitigations for schedule conflicts.
  • Improve visibility of cross-package dependencies by identifying critical interdependencies between contracts that may affect infrastructure readiness, installation sequencing, or delivery milestones.
  • Coordinate contractor handovers with the Handover Manager and Metrolinx by aligning readiness requirements, sequencing, and transition milestones between delivery packages.
  • Facilitate integrated mitigation and scenario planning with delivery teams, technical disciplines, and Project Controls by assessing project-level impacts and developing coordinated responses to delivery challenges.
  • Coordinate shared access and construction logistics with the Field Services Director where sequencing, site access, or logistics arrangements affect multiple contractors or work packages.
  • Improve project-level visibility of integration risks with the Project Interface Manager by maintaining awareness of cross-contract or cross-function issues and communicating them to project leadership.
  • Work with the Project Interface Manager, Project Assurance Manager, and Project Handover Manager to deliver best-for-project outcomes.
  • Identify process efficiencies and work with the Technical Director and Project Integration Lead to implement improvements when necessary.
  • Maintain visibility of cross-package dependencies, identifying where infrastructure readiness, construction sequencing, or installation activities intersect between contracts.
  • Identify and highlight interface and integration risks, including cross-work-package technical and schedule dependencies that could affect delivery; report and escalate emerging risks to project leadership to support decision-making and mitigation planning.
  • Develop and align delivery sequencing across work packages by coordinating teams and Project Controls to reconcile construction, systems installation, and access milestones into a coherent project-level schedule.
  • Facilitate integrated mitigation and scenario planning when delivery challenges or schedule pressures arise, identifying, considering, and communicating impacts on other work packages and downstream activities.
  • Facilitate cross-work-package discussions when sequencing, access arrangements, or readiness milestones require alignment among delivery teams, technical disciplines, or Project Controls.
  • Lead implementation of the project-wide Handover Management Plan and Procedures in consultation with the Project Handover Manager; contribute to consistent technical and contractual handover practices across work packages, monitor handover progress and performance, identify gaps, risks, or delays early, and escalate issues as required.
  • Work with the Handover Manager to develop and implement T-minus (backward-pass) and forward-pass regimes for each handover, showing the status of key deliverables and critical components required for successful transitions between contractors.
  • Support Construction in coordinating shared site access and construction logistics when sequencing, access, or logistics arrangements affect multiple contractors or work packages.
  • Provide Project Controls with technical and execution insight to improve schedule integration, scenario planning, and mitigation development across work packages.
  • Work with the Project Interface Manager to support technical coordination across work packages, providing a project-level perspective on technical interfaces that incorporates delivery sequencing and handover milestones to improve alignment and minimize downstream risks.
  • Promote a project-wide perspective on delivery decisions by encouraging consideration of cross-project impacts when changes or mitigation actions are proposed within individual contracts.
