Requirements
  • Working knowledge of medical office policies and procedures, preferably in an OASAS Clinic setting
  • Ability to safely draw intravenous blood
  • Ability to deal effectively with clients in a courteous and tactful manner
  • Ability to maintain records and prepare reports
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions
  • Physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position
Responsibilities
  • Interviewing clients to obtain medical history and record information in charts
  • Assisting clients with forms and applications for services
  • Taking blood pressure and pulse, testing urine specimens, drawing blood samples, and checking height, weight, and vision
  • Setting up examining rooms and tables; sterilizing and cleaning equipment
  • Performing patient support duties such as answering phones, making appointments, and coordinating insurance coverage
  • Maintaining records and preparing correspondence and reports
Desired Qualifications
  • Satisfactory completion of a medical assistant program from a State licensed school
  • Completion of a school or program accredited by an accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education
  • Graduation from a college with federally-authorized accreditation or registration by NY State may be substituted for the one (1) year of required experience
