Requirements
  • 3-5 years of experience in People Operations, HR Operations, People Systems, or a related operational role
  • Hands-on experience with HRIS platforms such as Sapling and Lattice, and contractor management systems
  • Strong systems thinker: you build processes that scale, not workarounds that hold
  • Enjoy working with data: you can build a report, spot a trend, and turn data into clear insights that leadership and managers can use to support decisions
  • Working knowledge of core employment and contractor compliance fundamentals, or the ability to get there quickly
  • Excellent written communicator: clear, concise, and precise, especially when documenting policy or process so that employees clearly understand
  • High discretion and judgment: you handle sensitive employee and contractor information with care
  • Fluent using AI tools: you use them to work faster and think better, not as a substitute for creativity or judgment
  • Continuously evaluate emerging AI tools and workflow automation opportunities that improve the employee experience while reducing manual administrative work.
Responsibilities
  • Own and maintain our HRIS, contractor management platforms, and related systems, ensuring data accuracy and integrity across the employee and contractor lifecycle
  • Evaluate, implement, and improve the tools that support hiring, onboarding, payroll coordination, benefits administration, and contractor engagement
  • Build reporting and dashboards that give leadership visibility into headcount, org structure, contractor spend, and workforce trends
  • Manage end-to-end onboarding and offboarding for both employees and contractors, ensuring a smooth, well-documented experience at every step
  • Own contractor classification, agreements, and renewals in partnership with Legal and Finance, keeping VSCO compliant as the contractor base grows
  • Coordinate benefits administration, leave management, and other lifecycle processes with accuracy and discretion
  • Identify where existing people processes are manual, inconsistent, or breaking down, and design scalable systems to replace them
  • Use data to answer questions about the workforce, such as turnover, time-to-hire, and contractor utilization, and in collaboration with leadership, turn findings into clear recommendations
  • Document policies and processes so they're easy to follow, easy to audit, and easy to hand off as the team grows
  • Keep VSCO compliant with employment and contractor regulations across the jurisdictions we operate in
  • Own recurring compliance workflows, including onboarding documentation, I-9/employment eligibility processes, required employee notices, and employee file maintenance
  • Partner with Finance and external vendors to coordinate payroll inputs, audits, employee changes, contractor payments, and related reporting
  • Partner with the CEO and leadership team on policy updates, handbook maintenance, and internal communications about people programs
  • Support culture-building efforts, including team offsites, all-hands logistics, employee appreciation, and the operational backbone of a great employee experience
Desired Qualifications
  • You've built or overhauled a people system or process before, taking it from messy to reliable
  • You’re great at organizing and documenting company policies ensuring they are effectively understood by everyone
  • You're naturally analytical, and default to data over gut feel when making recommendations
  • You're excited to grow: you see this role as a launchpad into broader People, Operations, or business leadership
  • You take ownership without waiting to be asked, and you sweat the details that others miss
  • You've worked with both employees and contractors and understand the practical differences between them
  • You're energized by the idea of shaping how VSCO's people function operates as the company scales

VSCO launches $500-a-year photography operating system targeting pros left behind by AI

VSCO has launched VSCO One, a $499.99 annual subscription described as a "photography operating system". The platform combines photo capture, raw and JPEG editing, client galleries, portfolio sites, invoicing, business tools and AI features into one freemium service. CEO Eric Wittman says the product targets aspiring and professional photographers underserved as AI transforms the industry. VSCO One positions itself as an all-in-one alternative to Adobe and the expensive collection of applications most professional photographers currently use. The photo-editing app maker aims to consolidate tools that photographers typically need to manage across multiple platforms into a single integrated system.

vsco launches all-in-one platform for professional photographers.

vsco launches all-in-one platform for professional photographers. Overview of VSCO One. After a teaser announcement last week, VSCO has made its VSCO One plan available for $499.99 per year. This new offering is designed to cater specifically to the needs of professional photographers, combining various pro-grade products and tools into a single, cohesive platform. The introduction of VSCO One marks a significant shift in how the company positions itself within the competitive landscape of photography applications. Features of VSCO One. VSCO One is not just a simple subscription service; it encompasses a range of features that are tailored to enhance the photography experience for professionals. Here are some of the key components included in the subscription: * Advanced Editing Tools: Subscribers will gain access to a suite of advanced editing tools that allow for precise adjustments and enhancements to their images. This includes features such as advanced color grading, exposure adjustments, and the ability to work with RAW files. * Exclusive Filters and Presets: The platform offers a selection of exclusive filters and presets that are designed to help photographers achieve unique looks and styles in their work. These tools can save time in the editing process while also providing a professional finish. * Collaboration Features: VSCO One includes tools that enable photographers to collaborate with clients and other creatives seamlessly. This includes features for sharing work, receiving feedback, and even co-editing projects in real-time. * Storage Solutions: The subscription provides ample cloud storage, allowing photographers to store, organize, and access their work from anywhere. This is particularly beneficial for professionals who need to manage large volumes of images. * Educational Resources: Subscribers will also have access to a range of educational materials, including tutorials, webinars, and articles that cover various aspects of photography and editing techniques. Pricing and accessibility. At a price point of $499.99 per year, VSCO One positions itself as a premium offering in the photography app market. This pricing reflects the comprehensive nature of the tools and resources provided, which are designed to meet the high standards of professional photographers. While this may seem steep compared to other photography apps, the value proposition lies in the all-in-one nature of the service, which could potentially save users money in the long run by consolidating multiple subscriptions into one. For many professionals, the cost of individual editing tools, storage solutions, and educational resources can quickly add up. By offering these features under a single subscription, VSCO aims to simplify the workflow for photographers and provide a more streamlined approach to managing their work. Implications for the photography community. The launch of VSCO One has significant implications for the photography community. As more photographers turn to digital platforms for their editing and storage needs, the competition among service providers is intensifying. VSCO's entry into this space with a comprehensive offering could challenge existing players and encourage innovation across the industry. Moreover, the focus on professional-grade tools suggests that VSCO is keen on attracting a more serious user base. This could lead to a shift in the types of content shared on the platform, as professionals may prioritize high-quality work and advanced techniques over casual photography. Stakeholder reactions. The reaction to the launch of VSCO One has been mixed among stakeholders in the photography community. Some professional photographers have expressed enthusiasm about the potential benefits of having an all-in-one platform that caters specifically to their needs. They appreciate the convenience of having advanced editing tools, collaboration features, and educational resources all in one place. However, there are also concerns regarding the pricing model. Some users feel that the annual fee may be prohibitive for emerging photographers or those who do not require all the features offered. This raises questions about accessibility and whether VSCO One will be able to attract a diverse user base. Comparison with competitors. In the competitive landscape of photography applications, VSCO One faces challenges from established players such as Adobe Lightroom, Capture One, and other editing software. Each of these platforms offers unique features and pricing structures, making it essential for VSCO to clearly communicate the advantages of its all-in-one approach. Adobe Lightroom, for instance, has long been a favorite among professional photographers due to its robust editing capabilities and integration with other Adobe products. However, it operates on a subscription model that can become costly over time, especially for users who may not need all of its features. In contrast, VSCO One aims to provide a more focused set of tools specifically for photographers, potentially appealing to those who prioritize simplicity and ease of use. Capture One, known for its powerful tethering capabilities and advanced color grading tools, also competes in this space. However, its pricing can be a barrier for some users. VSCO One's annual fee may be more attractive for those looking for a comprehensive solution without the need for multiple subscriptions. Future developments. As VSCO One gains traction, it will be interesting to see how the platform evolves. The company has indicated that it plans to continue expanding its offerings, potentially adding new features and tools based on user feedback. This could include additional editing capabilities, more collaboration tools, or even partnerships with other brands to enhance the user experience. Furthermore, the success of VSCO One may influence other photography platforms to reconsider their pricing models and feature sets. As the demand for all-in-one solutions grows, companies may need to adapt to remain competitive in a rapidly changing market. Conclusion. VSCO One represents a significant step forward for the company and the photography community at large. By offering a comprehensive suite of tools and resources for professional photographers, VSCO is positioning itself as a key player in the evolving landscape of digital photography. While the pricing may be a concern for some, the all-in-one nature of the platform could provide substantial value for those who require a robust set of features. As the platform continues to develop, it will be essential for VSCO to listen to its users and adapt to their needs in order to maintain its competitive edge. Was this helpful? Photographers Exploring AI: Burak Boylu

Photographers exploring AI: Burak Boylu. How the artist is reframing AI as a creative collaborator, not just a tool. As AI tools become more integrated into creative workflows, Visual Supply Co is launching a new series spotlighting VSCO photographers who are thoughtfully experimenting with this evolving technology. At VSCO, Visual Supply Co believe AI shouldn't replace creativity or diminish the human element that gives photography its soul, but it can expand what's possible. From accelerating time-consuming edits to helping visualize ideas before they're brought to life, AI Lab tools like Remove, Upscale, and Prompts are designed to support a photographer's vision. In its first conversation, Visual Supply Co hear from Burak Boylu, a longtime VSCO photographer, who is both excited and cautious. Burak's creative practice focuses on the quirk and beauty of everyday moments - ice cream cones, tennis balls, fruit, or kids' toys basked in sunlight - making Visual Supply Co look at them through his unique perspective, consistently defined by bold, popping colors. Until recently, he hasn't used AI in his "real" work, but about a year ago, he started experimenting. For Burak, it's become a bridge between imagination, ideation, and execution, while still wrestling with the deeper questions it raises about authorship, authenticity, and the future of creative work. VSCO: What are your general thoughts on AI - as a photographer? Burak Boylu: I believe it's an unavoidable and exciting opportunity for Visual Supply Co photographers. It allows Visual Supply Co to bring a project that 'doesn't even exist yet' to life in a matter of minutes. VSCO is succeeding in making this technology feel like a natural extension of a photographer's vision rather than just a digital tool. VSCO: At what point did you start experimenting with AI or folding it into your work? And what was the motivation for trying it? Burak Boylu: I first became intrigued when I started seeing AI-generated imagery on Instagram. When I saw that VSCO was integrating AI tools, I felt a genuine sense of excitement. VSCO: What motivated you to try it out? Burak Boylu: While I don't typically use AI in my primary body of work, the curiosity to see how it could enhance or interpret my vision was my main motivation. I experimented with a few frames to see what was possible, though it hasn't become a permanent fixture in my workflow yet. VSCO: Since you started experimenting, how has AI impacted your creative process: Burak Boylu: VSCO AI Lab has become a bridge between my imagination and reality. When I have a concept in my head, I can use the AI to quickly visualize how it might look in the real world before committing to a full shoot. It doesn't just execute my ideas; it often provides fresh inspiration and new creative directions I hadn't considered. It has expanded the horizon of what's possible. Knowing that almost anything Visual Supply Co imagine can now be translated into a visual reality is mind-blowing. However, it brings up a fundamental dilemma: Should Visual Supply Co embrace this new AI-driven era of photography, or should Visual Supply Co protect the traditional creative process of capturing a moment through its own lens? This tension is now at the heart of how I view creativity. "I experimented with various text-to-image prompts to achieve the specific aesthetic and mood I was looking for. It was a great experience to see how the AI interpreted my vision through the canvas tool." - Burak Boylu. VSCO: Given this tension, where would you say it sits right now for you? Burak Boylu: I've continued to explore the tools, but I wouldn't say they have fully integrated into my daily process yet. I'm still in the phase of testing the boundaries and seeing where they fit within my personal aesthetic.
