  • Applicants must be at least 18 years old.
  • Applicants must possess a valid state-issued driver's license and only one valid driver's license issued by their resident state. Drivers who recently transferred from another state must provide a copy of the former license or its information for verification, and disclose all licenses held in the past 36 months.
  • Applicants must have no driver's-license suspension or revocation lasting more than 30 days during the 36 months before the motor vehicle record is ordered, subject to the stated exception for suspensions related to failure to pay or appear when there was no conviction for driving while suspended.
  • Applicants must have no citation or conviction for a serious traffic violation during the 60 months before the motor vehicle record is ordered.
  • Applicants must have no pattern or record of more than three motor vehicle violations during the 36 months before the motor vehicle record is ordered.
  • Applicants must have no pattern or record of involvement in more than one at-fault traffic accident and no more than two motor vehicle violations during the 36 months before the motor vehicle record is ordered.
  • Applicants must have general knowledge and experience backing tractor trailers into a dock area.
  • Applicants must pass a Department of Transportation physical examination.
  • Applicants must consent to a pre-employment drug screen and receive a negative result.
  • Applicants must be able to read and write English, communicate effectively, and perform simple mathematical calculations.
  • Applicants must consent to a ten-year work-history check and disclose and explain any gap of 30 days or more, with documentation if requested.
Responsibilities
  • Load and unload freight onto and off trucks by hand or using a hand truck or dolly, in accordance with Department of Transportation requirements.
  • Sort and secure freight on trucks or on the dock to prevent damage and comply with Department of Transportation requirements.
  • Handle and lift materials including cartons, bags, cylinders, boxes, crates, drums, pipe, bars, and rugs; perform heavy lifting as needed.
  • Use common material-handling tools including carts, dollies, pallet jacks, and tow motors.
  • Move tractor trailers into the dock area.
  • Perform standing, walking, pushing, pulling, twisting, carrying, bending, reaching, and lifting both above and below waist level.
  • Work safely and professionally to reduce risks to self and fellow employees.
  • Comply with federal, state, and company regulations.
  • Process all job-related paperwork daily and be available and willing to work; exceptions require management approval.
  • Perform other duties as directed or requested.
