Greenlight Capital backs Fortune Brands at $39.37, sees path to $5 EPS with new leadership

Greenlight Capital highlighted Fortune Brands Innovations in its second-quarter 2026 investor letter, despite the fund declining 4.3% in the quarter. The firm reported a 1.9% year-to-date gain versus 10.2% for the S&P 500. Fortune Brands, which owns Moen, Therma-Tru, and Master Lock, has faced challenges from difficult housing market conditions and poor execution by previous management. An activist investor joined the board in March, and a new chief executive with a strong track record in building products was appointed in June. Greenlight acquired its position at an average price of $39.37 per share. The firm believes that if Fortune Brands achieves the low end of prior management's mid-cycle margin targets on current revenue, it could support approximately $5 in earnings per share.
