Requirements
  • At least 10 years of work experience and a degree in electrical engineering or a closely related discipline.
  • Extensive experience in analog or mixed-signal integrated circuit design.
  • A proven track record of successful integrated circuit tape-outs and silicon validation.
  • Experience delivering designs from concept through layout to production.
  • Experience providing technical leadership or mentoring engineers.
  • Design experience in several of the following: RF amplifiers, low-noise amplifiers, mixers, variable-gain amplifiers, data converters, phase-locked loops, voltage-controlled oscillators, clock generation, bandgaps, and operational amplifiers.
  • Expert-level ability to design and analyze complex analog circuits and optimize designs for specific applications.
  • Demonstrable understanding of deep-submicron technologies, including electromigration, aging, and technology limitations.
  • Expertise in mixed-signal integrated circuit design and integration, including signal integrity, noise mitigation, and power optimization.
  • Fluency with industry tools including Cadence Virtuoso, Spectre, EMX, SPICE, and HeatWave.
  • Deep understanding of integrated circuit layout considerations, including parasitics, matching, and performance optimization, with the ability to guide layout decisions.
  • Test and debug experience, including strong laboratory skills and silicon evaluation.
  • Experience collaborating across disciplines to ensure products meet customer requirements and timelines.
Responsibilities
  • Perform feasibility, conceptual, and detailed design of mixed-signal integrated circuits in deep-submicron CMOS technologies.
  • Design and develop analog and mixed-signal circuits and blocks, ensuring performance across process, voltage, and temperature variations.
  • Develop creative solutions to demanding problems and suggest new architectures and novel ways to overcome customer problems.
  • Evaluate customer requirements and translate information into chip-level and block-level specifications, including area, cost, and power tradeoffs.
  • Anticipate physical-design and block-interaction tradeoffs beyond schematic design, and floorplan and guide physical-design engineers to deliver implementations that meet requirements.
  • Work with RF engineers on laminate design, including ball-out planning, RF performance, isolation, matching, and overall verification.
  • Assist product engineers with silicon validation and debugging by conducting measurements and analyzing laboratory data.
  • Collaborate with product definers, verification engineers, process engineers, test engineers, and application engineers to ensure designs meet performance objectives.
  • Create and present design and evaluation review documentation while working with engineers in geographically disparate locations.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to other engineers, including participation in design reviews.
Desired Qualifications
  • A master's degree or higher.
  • Publications or patents in analog or mixed-signal design.
  • Successful engineering team leadership and/or management experience.
  • Experience with FinFET design.
  • Understanding of RF microwave concepts, including impedance matching, power transfer, isolation, transmission-line design, and S-parameters.
  • Experience with test equipment, strong laboratory skills, and silicon evaluation.
