Requirements
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Seven to ten years of progressively responsible accounting, financial reporting, technical accounting, or audit experience.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. generally accepted accounting principles, financial statement preparation, consolidations, technical accounting, and financial reporting controls.
  • Certified Public Accountant certification is required.
  • Ability to prepare executive-level and audit committee materials covering technical accounting matters, reporting risks, audit status, internal control themes, and key financial reporting judgments.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational discipline, and ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced reporting environment.
  • Ability to explain complex accounting, financial reporting, and U.S. generally accepted accounting principles matters to executive leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Ability to build effective working relationships across diverse teams and leadership styles.
  • Ability to comply with applicable safety regulations, personal protective equipment requirements, and Environmental Health and Safety policies.
Responsibilities
  • Lead Securities and Exchange Commission reporting, including preparation of Forms 10-K and 10-Q, and support Investor Relations.
  • Partner with internal and external stakeholders to support disclosure governance, cross-functional review of external reporting materials, reporting consistency, and audit-ready documentation.
  • Support preparation of backlog, bonding capacity, and other construction-specific investor disclosures with Investor Relations and surety or bonding partners.
  • Perform technical accounting research and prepare accounting analyses and whitepapers for complex U.S. generally accepted accounting principles matters, including revenue recognition, business combinations, purchase accounting, goodwill and long-lived asset impairment, share-based compensation, leases, debt and equity transactions, segment reporting, earnings-per-share considerations, related-party matters, and new accounting standard adoption.
  • Own technical accounting for long-term, fixed-price, and unit-price construction contracts under Accounting Standards Codification 606, including significant-contract assessments, percentage-of-completion measurement, estimate-at-completion updates, and variable consideration.
  • Review contract asset and contract liability positions, including retainage classification and aging.
  • Advise regional finance teams on claims, unapproved change orders, and contract modifications for proper recognition timing and disclosure.
  • Maintain the anticipated-loss accrual policy and monitor projects for early identification of loss positions.
  • Provide accounting support for business development and strategic initiatives, including proposed transaction evaluations, acquisition-related accounting considerations, and related financial reporting impacts.
  • Lead purchase accounting and integration considerations for tuck-in and roll-up acquisitions.
  • Evaluate joint venture, consortium, and teaming arrangements for proper consolidation and variable-interest-entity determination.
  • Partner with accounting and finance leaders to improve reporting automation, data integrity, dashboarding, financial reporting analytics, and scalable reporting processes.
  • Develop accounting policies, internal control documentation, reporting processes, and financial statement support designed to be scalable and audit-ready.
  • Ensure proper lease accounting under Accounting Standards Codification 842 for equipment, real estate, and job-site facilities.
  • Provide technical accounting oversight for the owned and leased equipment fleet, including componentization, useful-life assessments, and impairment considerations.
  • Serve as a key liaison with external auditors by managing audit requests, provided-by-client deliverables, issue resolution, reporting timelines, audit-ready support, and recurring audit status meetings.
  • Partner with FP&A on implementation of a consolidation system and manage future-state monthly consolidation.
  • Advise on the financial aspects of contracts, including leases, into which the company may enter.
  • Supervise and mentor staff to develop their accounting and problem-solving skills.
  • Manage or participate in special projects and perform other assigned duties.
Desired Qualifications
  • Public-company reporting, initial public offering readiness, or transaction-readiness experience, including preparation or review of Securities and Exchange Commission-style filings, management discussion and analysis, earnings release materials, disclosure controls, governance routines, and public-company-quality financial statements.
  • Big Four or national public accounting experience.
  • Experience with Workiva, Active Disclosure, or similar external reporting platforms.
  • Experience with OneStream, HFM, Hyperion Retrieve, Oracle EPM, or other consolidation and reporting tools.
  • Familiarity with construction-industry job-cost and enterprise resource planning systems such as Viewpoint, CMiC, Procore, and Oracle Textura.
