Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute multiyear category strategies that support business objectives and procurement value targets, and develop actionable opportunity pipelines.
  • Develop strategic sourcing plans, initiative pipelines, and category roadmaps for assigned indirect categories.
  • Monitor and use market intelligence, supplier segmentation, business demand patterns, and risk mitigation plans to inform sourcing strategy.
  • Execute category strategies to demonstrate strategic sourcing ownership of spend in consulting, legal, audit, tax, engineering, and financial advisory services categories.
  • Lead end-to-end sourcing events, including stakeholder alignment, supplier selection, request for proposal/request for quotation execution, analysis, negotiations, and award recommendations.
  • Develop negotiation strategies addressing commercial value, service expectations, risk, contract flexibility, and supplier performance.
  • Partner with Legal, Finance, Compliance, and business stakeholders to support contract review and business decision-making.
  • Manage key supplier relationships and support supplier performance reviews, issue resolution, and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Deliver annual profit-and-loss reduction and protection targets through sourcing, negotiation, demand management, supplier optimization, working capital, savings pipeline, benefit validation, and budget impact.
  • Track sourcing results, validate benefits with Finance as appropriate, and support leadership reporting.
  • Establish preferred supplier programs to aggregate spending with suppliers and professional services governance across functional domains.
  • Develop executive stakeholder relationships and drive organizational alignment to position Procurement as a strategic business partner.
  • Partner with the CFO and supporting Finance organization, General Counsel, and other corporate business leaders to ensure early procurement engagement and leadership-level visibility.
  • Implement a finance-supported spend control tower to provide transparency and impact on functional budgets at the greatest possible level of granularity.
  • Lead complex cross-functional initiatives, influencing senior leaders to achieve enterprise objectives and maximize value.
  • Champion change management efforts to ensure adoption of procurement strategies, processes, and technologies.
  • Balance stakeholder priorities with governance, risk management, and business requirements to support informed decision-making.
  • Foster collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement across Procurement and business functions.
  • Serve as a procurement subject matter expert for assigned indirect categories.
  • Advise stakeholders on procurement processes, market dynamics, supplier options, and commercial strategy.
  • Mentor less experienced Category Managers, Analysts, or sourcing team members as needed.
  • Leverage digital procurement technologies, data analytics, and process automation to improve business value, decision-making, and stakeholder outcomes.
  • Use procurement platforms and analytical tools to support category strategy, sourcing execution, supplier management, and performance reporting.

Owens & Minor appoints Carrie Childress as first-ever chief marketing officer

Owens & Minor has appointed Carrie Childress as its first chief marketing officer in the company's 140-year history. Childress, who takes on the newly created role of executive vice president and CMO, brings nearly 20 years of experience in healthcare marketing, product management and brand development. Most recently, Childress served as vice president of Americas marketing at Cordis, where she led large-scale marketing initiatives that drove sustained growth. She has also held positions at Smith & Nephew, ConMed and AcuityMD. In her new role, Childress will lead efforts to strengthen the Owens & Minor brand and product portfolios. The appointment follows the company's transition to private ownership under Platinum Equity in December 2025.

Owens & Minor has appointed Jim Marshall as its new CEO, adding a veteran healthcare and medical products executive to lead the distributor's next phase Most recently, he served as Senior Vice President of Health Systems at McKesson, where Owens & Minor noted he helped drive double-digit growth across revenue, profitability and market share. Prior to that, Marshall spearheaded McKesson's U.S. Pharma operations unit as VP and General Manager. Owens & Minor launches Halyard Kitting with new $2,000-job facility in Honduras

Owens & Minor has launched Halyard Kitting, a new approach to manufacturing medical procedure trays used in hospitals and healthcare facilities. The trays contain instruments, supplies and medical devices clinicians need for specific procedures in ready-to-use packages. The company's flagship kitting facility opened in Villanueva, Honduras, where Owens & Minor has operated for over 30 years. The state-of-the-art site will create opportunities for up to 2,000 employees and incorporates visual management sequencing and automated packaging systems that nearly double the company's current kitting production capacity. Halyard Kitting combines Owens & Minor's supply chain, distribution and manufacturing expertise to offer healthcare providers a more resilient solution with a broad range of kit components, including proprietary Halyard brand products. The launch follows Owens & Minor's transition to Platinum Equity's portfolio in December 2025.
