Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in computer science, electronics engineering, or another engineering or technical discipline is required; eight years of experience may substitute for education.
  • At least 15 years of experience in IT operations, service reliability, enterprise monitoring, or incident management, including at least five years managing operations teams.
  • Experience overseeing service delivery to a federal client.
  • Proven experience leading multi-site IT operations and diverse operational teams.
  • Strong background in ITIL practices, event and incident management, and customer support operations.
  • A history of collaboration and flexibility, including developing innovative solutions to challenges facing large, complex enterprises.
  • US citizenship or U.S. permanent residency is required.
  • Willingness and ability to obtain and maintain Public Trust Clearance.
  • Must meet updated identification requirements and, if necessary, update current forms of identification in a timely manner to complete the suitability process.
Responsibilities
  • Lead and mentor the Instrumentation Engineering and Sustainment team responsible for deploying, maintaining, and optimizing monitoring instrumentation across approximately 800 applications and networked systems.
  • Ensure high-quality telemetry, including metrics, logs, traces, and events, and end-to-end visibility across application tiers.
  • Improve alert fidelity using smarter thresholds, correlation, anomaly detection, and artificial intelligence for IT operations capabilities.
  • Oversee the intake and triage of approximately 8,000 monitoring alerts per day, ensuring accurate prioritization and escalation.
  • Continuously refine the signal-to-noise ratio through tuning, automation, and root-cause reduction.
  • Direct the Monitoring Architecture and Standards team responsible for monitoring platform operations, observability architecture, standards, and artificial intelligence-driven analytics.
  • Define and enforce enterprise monitoring best practices, instrumentation patterns, and telemetry governance.
  • Partner with engineering, application owners, and infrastructure teams to ensure consistent, scalable observability.
  • Lead the integration of application performance monitoring capabilities with incident management, dashboards, service-level objective and service-level agreement reporting, and service health analytics.
