Requirements

  • Have a high school diploma or general education degree, or one to three months of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Be certified in basic life support before hire.
Responsibilities
  • Schedule patients for necessary procedures using the appropriate scheduling system, gather pre-registration and pre-admission information, reschedule patients upon request, document cancellations and no-shows, page medical staff when appropriate, document telephone encounters, manage appointment waiting lists, contact patients for follow-up scheduling, and confirm appointment times and pertinent attendance, education, directions, and parking information.
  • Review schedules and pre-registrations to identify duplicate medical record numbers and multiple same-day visits, match demographic and insurance data, verify insurance eligibility and coverage, obtain required authorizations, identify co-payment agreements, maintain petty cash balances, close recurring accounts when appropriate, and reconcile insurance card copies with completed registrations.
  • Batch reminder letters, disseminate incoming office mail, review schedules to resolve conflicts, prepare medical records and forms packets, gather diagnostic reports, and batch appointment cancellation and no-show letters.
  • Register patients according to training guidelines, collect and record co-payments or prompt payment agreements, issue payment receipts, copy insurance cards, obtain required consents and family documentation, and issue patient identification cards or wristbands as appropriate.
  • Perform follow-up scheduling at discharge, reconcile medical records, process physician orders and referrals, and mark no-shows and no-shows requiring rescheduling in the scheduling system.
  • Stock supplies in the front desk area.
  • Assist with airport pick-up and drop-off.
  • Perform other reasonably related business duties assigned by the immediate supervisor or hospital administration.
