Requirements

  • Ability to perform basic math functions, including calculations involving proportions, percentages, and measurements.
  • Ability to understand written, oral, or diagram-form instructions.
  • Ability to read, write, and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and contractual requirements.
  • Ability to work flexibly and extensively as business needs require.
  • Basic knowledge of standard methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in concrete and asphalt repair, construction, and maintenance.
  • Skill in using and caring for small hand and power tools associated with the work.
  • Ability to interface with the public in a professional manner.
  • A high school diploma or GED is required.
  • A valid driver's license and good driving record are required to drive a company vehicle.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted.
  • Ability to pass a respirator fit test when required.
  • Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces.
Responsibilities
  • Perform maintenance, servicing, and repairs on roads and other infrastructure assets, including roadways, medians, signs, guardrails, fences, bridges, tunnels, and vegetation.
  • Set up and remove traffic control devices, including cones, message and arrow boards, and temporary signage, to create safe Maintenance of Traffic control.
  • Work from heights using bucket trucks, scaffolding, ladders, and aerial platform lifts.
  • Perform basic maintenance and repairs on bridge structures and equipment rooms, including portals, railings, expansion joints, doors, and painting.
  • Repair and maintain roadway catch basins, sumps, pumps, fire hydrants, and other mechanical assets using hand and power tools and equipment.
  • Repair and maintain equipment-room ventilation systems.
  • Repair and maintain basic electrical systems, including emergency telephones, CCTV systems, electronic traffic signs, call boxes, lane signals, and lighting.
  • Transport crews and equipment to work sites using pickup trucks, large trucks, specialized motor vehicles, and trailers.
  • Remain available and accessible for emergency-response rotations, including overtime, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Maintain and repair highway and other surfaces, including potholes, striping, reflectors, concrete, and asphalt.
  • Maintain highways and medians by removing and disposing of litter and debris.
  • Repair and maintain slopes, berms, culverts, and drains using hand and power tools and equipment.
  • Control vegetation appearance and growth using lawn-mowing equipment, hand or power trimmers, chemical sprayers, and other methods.
  • Maintain the appearance and functionality of signs, guardrails, fences, and lighting through repair or replacement.
  • Keep roadways free of debris, ice, and snow using snow-removal and sanding equipment.
  • Comply with federal, state, and local legal requirements and company policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • One year of work experience in infrastructure, maintenance, and repair.
  • Commercial Driver's License, Department of Transportation certifications, electrical certifications, and welding certifications.
