- Procure mass-production raw material for the wire harness business while balancing physical inventory and preventing line shutdowns.
- Review the entire material pipeline, including purchase-order cancellations, purchase-order push-outs, urgent orders, and normal orders, to maintain steady supply within Material Controls inventory goals.
- Communicate with assigned vendors and review purchase orders, backorders, forecasts, expedite requests, and delivery issues.
- Review, release, and interpret weekly forecasts and backorder reports for the assigned vendor base.
- Review backorders and issue Supplier Delivery Non-Conformance and Payment Deduction Notices to vendors.
- Provide plants and warehouses with part-number information, including estimated times of arrival and plant days of inventory on hand based on shipping history.
- Support Material Control and other departments with pending supplier invoice payments related to late or missing deliveries, warehouse receiving, and supplier discrepancies.
- Inform production plants about material arrivals and potential production problems.
- Generate forecast, inventory, obsolescence-control, and downtime reports as needed.
- Coordinate supplier meetings, follow up on discrepancy and invoice issues, and request effective countermeasures for recurring supplier problems.
- Assign FedEx, UPS, or DHL carriers for expedited shipments and track shipments to prevent plant downtime.
- Work a flexible schedule as needed to accommodate supplier internal and external operating hours.
- Travel to manufacturing sites as needed to support communication and streamline production phases.
- Apply problem-solving techniques, including a Kaizen focus.
- Perform other duties as needed.
