Requirements
  • A Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy degree is required.
  • A current pharmacist license in good standing with the local State Board of Pharmacy is required.
  • Candidates must be able to make clinical decisions independently.
  • Candidates must be able to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Candidates should be self-directed and able to drive results without constant direction or feedback.
  • Candidates must be flexible in a dynamic working environment.
  • Candidates must be proficient at learning new computer systems and using multiple monitors.
Responsibilities
  • Process and document Utilization Management requests, including prior authorization, step therapy, and formulary exceptions, for delegated products and services.
  • Evaluate client Utilization Management requests and make clinical determinations, considering denial language and whether the decision aligns with the clinical intent of the individual program criteria.
  • Consult directly with health care providers about non-formulary and clinical product coverage issues.
  • Collaborate with team members to promote consistency of clinical decisions across the pharmacist team.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
