New carrier report card: T-Mobile fastest, Verizon widest, AT&T improving fastest.

New carrier report card: T-Mobile fastest, Verizon widest, AT&T improving fastest. If you've been wondering which carrier actually delivers the fastest speeds in 2026, two of the biggest names in network measurement just weighed in, and they mostly agree with each other. As reported by Android Authority, Ookla and Opensignal both released half-yearly performance reports covering the first half of 2026, and T-Mobile came out on top in the categories that matter most for everyday use. Ookla named T-Mobile the "Best Mobile Network overall," crediting it with the fastest median download speeds of any carrier: 314.38 Mbps on 5G and 275.55 Mbps across all network types combined. Verizon landed in second place in both categories, a repeat of the pattern from Ookla's previous half-yearly report. Opensignal's numbers tell a similar story. T-Mobile again led on download speed, with the report noting the second-place carrier trailed by nearly 100 Mbps. Out of 16 award categories in Opensignal's report, T-Mobile took home 12, covering things like consistency and reliability alongside raw speed. AT&T picked up recognition for the highest amount of time users spent connected to its network. Speed isn't the whole picture, though. Both reports agree that Verizon holds the edge in network availability, meaning it's more likely to have coverage in the specific spot you're standing in, even if that connection isn't the fastest one available. Verizon also won for the best 5G streaming experience, with the lowest load times for 5G video, though T-Mobile and AT&T weren't far behind, both scoring "Excellent" ratings of their own. AT&T's story here is about momentum rather than outright wins. Both reports point to AT&T posting the largest speed improvements of the three major carriers, particularly in 5G download and upload performance, echoing gains it had already shown in an earlier report the same week. If that trend continues, the gap between AT&T and the top of these rankings could keep narrowing. The takeaway: if raw speed is your priority, T-Mobile remains the safer bet based on this data. If you live somewhere coverage is spotty, Verizon's reach may matter more than any speed number. And if you're an AT&T customer who's felt like your service has been getting better lately, these reports suggest you're not imagining it.

Literacy Delaware receives support to increase English language proficiency from the Arsht Cannon Fund.

Literacy Delaware receives support to increase English language proficiency from the Arsht Cannon Fund. Literacy Delaware is extremely grateful to the Arsht Cannon Fund for awarding Literacy Delaware a generous grant to help scale its adult literacy services and increase English language proficiency among Spanish-speaking adults in Delaware. This grant will strengthen virtual instruction, enabling learners to increase their reading, writing, speaking, listening, and digital literacy skills. As a result, its adult learners will bolster the skills they need for employment, greater economic stability, and increased civic participation. This grant also addresses a significant barrier its learners face - access to technology. Through Literacy Delaware's partnership with T-Mobile and Premier Wireless, learners participating in virtual classes will receive tablet devices equipped with a keyboard, camera, microphone, and access to a mobile hotspot. By putting technology directly in learners' hands, the program removes barriers to participation and makes high-quality virtual instruction more accessible across the state. "We are incredibly grateful to the Arsht Cannon Fund for investing in Delaware's adult learners," said Leslie McGowan, Interim Executive Director of Literacy Delaware. "This support allows us to offer flexible learning opportunities while giving learners the resources they need to achieve their goals. It's a win-win." Learner progress will be measured through standardized pre- and post-assessments to demonstrate gains in English language proficiency and by tracking goal attainment. About Literacy Delaware Its program serves immigrants and adults with low literacy skills throughout the state of Delaware, helping them improve their skills to more fully participate in their communities.
