Requirements
  • At least six months of experience in aviation ground handling or cargo/mail sorting.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, pull, and move items weighing 70 pounds or more regularly, and repetitively lift 40 to 50 pounds on raised surfaces.
  • Ability to carry heavy items up and down narrow jetway stairs.
  • Ability to walk, climb, bend, kneel, crawl, and stoop frequently and for extended periods.
  • Ability to work in cramped or high places.
  • Ability to remain alert to moving vehicles or aircraft and use radio equipment to communicate with crew and airport authorities.
  • Ability to work outside in all types of weather and around jet and machinery noises.
  • Ability to provide direction and support to the team to complete required tasks proficiently and safely.
  • Ability to communicate information and instructions verbally or via radio equipment with flight crew, gate agents, and other ground crew to coordinate aircraft, equipment, baggage, and cargo handling.
  • Basic mathematics skills, including calculating aircraft weight and balance.
  • Basic computer skills for using systems to track cargo and baggage.
  • Problem-solving skills to troubleshoot issues during loading and unloading.
  • Time-management skills to complete tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • At least 18 years of age and possession of a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Authorization to work in the United States under the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986.
  • Completion of ramp and SIDA training to obtain airport authority identification security.
  • Ability to secure a Customs Seal through the respective governing agency if required by the customer or role access.
Responsibilities
  • Coordinate delivery of aircraft service functions for airline customers while aircraft are at the gate, including de-icing, lavatory dumping, and refueling.
  • Determine proper aircraft load factors in conjunction with the airline operations department.
  • Verify and sign off on aircraft services performed so the airline can be billed for services rendered.
  • Perform routine administrative duties, including GSE fluid inspections, washing equipment, and removing debris and trash from the ramp area.
  • Serve as liaison with airline customers, pilots, and the AGI operations department.
  • Direct and assist ramp agents with ground handling duties as needed.
  • Follow health, safety, and security requirements and training provided by AGI.
  • Report hazards, near misses, incidents, accidents, and dangerous occurrences to a manager or supervisor.
  • Attend required AGI training courses.
