Principal Network Engineer
About the job
- At least 10 years of experience in network engineering and administration.
- A high school diploma or GED is required.
- Security+ and Cisco Certified Network Professional certifications are required.
- Experience installing, configuring, troubleshooting, upgrading, patching, and hardening routers, serial consoles, load balancers, and switches.
- Extensive experience with enterprise-level network architectures and configurations.
- Ability to assess infrastructure, identify areas for improvement, and recommend solutions.
- Experience with network monitoring and management using an automated solution.
- Extensive experience with security as it pertains to network architecture, desktops, laptops, servers, firewalls, routers, and intrusion detection systems.
- U.S. citizenship and a current Top Secret clearance with Sensitive Compartmented Information access are required.
- Applicants must meet U.S. government security investigation eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
- Solid customer service and communication skills, including the ability and willingness to communicate effectively and appropriately in an empathetic and understanding manner.
- Analyze and simulate network traffic to aid in problem resolution or to test updated configurations in virtual or physical lab environments.
- Design, implement, and troubleshoot complex enterprise network solutions and issues.
- Develop, execute, modify, or remove scripts to assist in task automation.
- Review and document all workload activities per incident or change request to eliminate rework or support auditing and investigation.
- Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert certification.
- Knowledge of Software Defined Networking.
