Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • A valid Class A commercial driver's license with Tank endorsement.
  • A valid Department of Transportation medical certification with Non-Excepted Interstate self-certification.
  • Knowledge of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations and best practices for equipment transport.
  • Ability to operate equipment during loading and unloading processes.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Basic mechanical skills for minor truck and trailer maintenance.
  • Willingness to travel to various job sites as needed.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Ability to read, understand, and navigate using paper or digital maps.
  • Ability to sit for long periods of time.
Responsibilities
  • Safely operate a tractor trailer in a manner that reduces risk and liabilities.
  • Load and secure heavy construction equipment and machinery onto the trailer for transport in accordance with state and federal regulations.
  • Accurately measure load dimensions and weight to ensure compliance with oversize and overweight permit requirements and state and federal regulations.
  • Perform and properly document pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the truck and trailer to ensure they are in a safe and legal condition.
  • Maintain accurate records of trip details, including mileage, fuel consumption, maintenance reports, and hours worked.
  • Communicate with project managers, equipment operators, and other team members to coordinate equipment transport and delivery schedules.
  • Adhere to Emery Sapp & Sons safety policies and procedures.
  • Perform basic maintenance and repairs on the truck and trailer when necessary.
  • Assist with loading and unloading equipment and materials at job sites as needed.
  • Perform occasional heavy lifting.
  • Navigate a tractor trailer using instructions, maps, or GPS to a wide variety of on-road and off-road locations.
  • Properly wear and safely use personal protective equipment.
  • Record hours worked using an electronic logging device in compliance with Hours of Service regulations.
  • Document equipment pickups and deliveries.
  • Ensure pickup and delivery accuracy.
Desired Qualifications
  • At least 3 years of experience operating lowboy trailers and transporting heavy equipment.
  • A hazardous materials endorsement on the commercial driver's license.
