Requirements
  • Must be a recent graduate of a civil engineering / building science program or a related educational field, or have a minimum of 1 year work experience in a construction environment
  • Experience with Glazing, Metal Panels, Roofing or the entire Building Envelope an asset
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Strong PC skills in MS Office
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multitask
  • Quick and eager to learn
  • Ability to work individually and in a team environment
  • AutoCAD skills an asset
  • Proficiency in Bluebeam and MS office package, including MS Project
  • Highly motivated with strong organizational, analytical, problem solving and decision-making abilities
  • Strong blueprint reading skills
Responsibilities
  • Directing and coordinating activities of project personnel to ensure project progresses on schedule and within prescribed budget
  • Creating status reports and modifying schedules or plans as required
  • Preparing project reports for management, client, or others
  • Communicating all aspects of job status, such as changes and schedule delays etc. with customer
  • Working closely under the guidance and direction of the Project Manager and Superintendent, learn and apply Flynn systems and methods
  • Assist the Project Manager and Superintendent, where applicable, in the day to day duties of a project’s administration
  • Assist in plan and specification analysis in order to provide clear, trackable and coordinated interpretations of the design/drawings for construction
  • Research and recommend solutions to design document problems, including conflicts, interferences and errors/omissions
  • Act as liaison with General Contractor in expediting drawings and related information
  • Maintain and update the Shop Drawing Log, review Shop Drawings and submittals
  • Coordinate submittals and procure all close-out documents including warranties and Operating and Maintenance Manuals
  • Assist with the research and preparation of field change requests to resolve design issues
  • Conduct quality control activities in accordance with instructions, inspection programs, using specified control measuring and testing equipment
  • Understand and perform document control functions in accordance with on-site policy and procedures
  • Review incoming contracts for accuracy and acceptance prior to VP signing
  • Maintain Job Binder & Job Reports
  • Review and record shop drawings
  • Attend jobsite meetings including final inspections (where possible or necessary)
