Requirements
  • A Bachelor's degree (B.A.) or three to five years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret financial statements.
  • Ability to calculate financial ratios and apply basic algebra concepts.
  • Ability to carry out written, oral, or diagrammatic instructions.
  • Ability to address problems involving several variables in inconsistent situations.
  • Proficiency with standard office software, including Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment, including a keyboard, calculator, telephone, fax machine, and photocopier.
  • Ability to occasionally lift or move up to 15 pounds.
  • Ability to perform sedentary work involving extended periods of sitting and screen use, as well as repetitive fine motor movements.
Responsibilities
  • Perform month-end accounting functions and prepare financial statements for review by the Accounting Supervisor.
  • Conduct monthly reconciliations of all bank accounts.
  • Conduct monthly reconciliations of all balance sheet accounts to ensure their accuracy.
  • Tag and monitor fixed assets.
  • Record debt payments and monitor compliance with debt covenants.
  • Assemble information for external auditors for the annual audit or review.
  • Maintain the chart of accounts.
  • File and remit tax payments to government bodies.
  • Interpret and apply corporate financial policies, government legislation, and accounting theory.
  • Provide backup coverage across the accounting team, including billing, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
  • Prepare reports and analyses covering budgets, financial plans, statistical reports, cash flow projections, and business forecasts.
  • Make recommendations to management regarding cost savings, profit-generating opportunities, and profitability improvement strategies.
  • Coordinate with management at all levels to gather, analyze, summarize, and prepare recommendations regarding financial plans, acquisition activity, new business plans, trended future requirements, government requirements, and operating forecasts.
  • Provide departmental support and assist in other areas as needed after month-end close.
  • Follow safety and work rules and regulations and maintain departmental housekeeping standards.
