About the job

Requirements
  • Three to five years of relevant supply chain experience, including at least two years focused on inventory and item-management modules and a good understanding of enterprise resource planning systems.
  • Prior experience in an asset-intensive environment, such as metal recycling, heavy manufacturing, mining, production, or heavy industrial logistics.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including VLOOKUP, Power Query, and pivot tables.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Access, Visual Basic for Applications, and Structured Query Language for extracting, automating, filtering, and preparing large volumes of inventory data for system integration.
  • A bachelor's degree or college/vocational diploma in supply chain management, operations logistics, data analysis, or a related field.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, strong problem-solving abilities, and the ability to establish and negotiate priorities between data standards and urgent operational needs.
Responsibilities
  • Manage the complete lifecycle of inventory stock-keeping unit numbers in a multisite environment, including creation, validation, modification, and archiving.
  • Enforce rigorous naming conventions, asset hierarchies, units-of-measure conversions, minimum-economic-order-quantity parameters, and merchandise classifications for spare parts, wear parts, and metal categories.
  • Create and audit bills of materials and their links to rotating items in IBM Maximo to clearly associate components with the relevant shredders, shears, and heavy-equipment fleets.
  • Perform regular data-quality audits to eliminate duplicates, correct description inconsistencies, and ensure accurate supplier cross-references.
  • Calculate and adjust reorder points, safety-stock levels, and minimum/maximum stock thresholds in the enterprise asset-management platform based on lead times and seasonal volume fluctuations.
  • Collaborate with maintenance planners and engineering teams to forecast critical spare-parts needs before major planned work or plant shutdowns.
  • Own the end-to-end automated replenishment process in the enterprise asset-management platform; generate, validate, and approve purchase requisitions triggered by the system before routing them to procurement teams.
  • Track and communicate key supply-chain performance indicators, including inventory turnover, dormant-stock rate, and stockout frequency.
  • Identify cost-reduction opportunities by locating low-turnover, obsolete, or duplicate items across interconnected regional warehouses.

The product range includes processed aluminum and copper pieces, and its divisions share resources and expertise across different stages of material recovery. Founded in Montreal in 1936, the family-run parent company says its head office is in Montreal, Quebec.
