About the job

Requirements
  • Proven experience as a general manager or senior business leader owning both product management and engineering functions for a significant product area, platform, or business unit.
  • A track record of building, scaling, and leading multi-team, multi-discipline organizations through directors and managers in a fast-paced, high-growth technology environment.
  • Deep experience setting product and technical strategy and translating that strategy into roadmaps that balance security, platform reliability, customer needs, and business outcomes.
  • Strong executive presence and the ability to influence peers and senior leadership, negotiate priorities across competing stakeholders, and communicate complex technical and business trade-offs clearly.
  • Experience owning P&L-style outcomes or equivalent business metrics for a product or platform area, including cost, revenue impact, and operational risk.
  • A strong point of view on cloud security, identity and access management, billing and monetization systems, or core platform services, along with the judgment to know when to build, buy, or partner.
  • Experience developing cross-disciplinary collaboration between engineering, product, operations, support, sales, and legal or compliance teams.
  • A demonstrated ability to make effective trade-offs across engineering and product requirements, balancing short-term delivery with long-term platform health.
  • Experience with end-to-end quality, security, and compliance best practices and their implementation at scale.
  • Experience staffing, interviewing, developing, and retaining high-performing product and engineering leaders and teams.
  • A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred but not required; an advanced degree, including an MBA, is also preferred.
  • 15 or more years of experience in product management, engineering, or other technical leadership roles, with significant time spent in senior or executive leadership positions owning both product and engineering functions.
  • Deep understanding of cloud-based systems, cybersecurity principles, and the regulatory and compliance landscape relevant to identity, billing, and security data.
  • Experience operating in public-company or high-governance environments, including board-level and executive reporting.
  • Familiarity with cloud hosting and virtualization technologies.
  • Past success shaping highly scalable, secure products and platforms with an eye toward ease of use and customer trust.
Responsibilities
  • Own the vision, strategy, and business outcomes for Security Products, Security Engineering, Customer Identity, Billing, Secrets Management, Security Observability, and other Core Platform Account Services, acting as the general manager of this combined portfolio.
  • Build, lead, and grow a multi-disciplinary organization of product management and engineering directors, managers, and individual contributors; mentor leaders in growing their teams, their scope, and their careers.
  • Set and drive the build, buy, or partner strategy for security and platform capabilities, and own the end-to-end product lifecycle for each domain, from strategy and roadmap through execution, launch, and ongoing operation.
  • Translate company-level strategy into a coherent, prioritized roadmap across security and platform services, making explicit trade-offs between competing investments and communicating those trade-offs clearly to executive stakeholders.
  • Partner closely with peer leaders across Engineering, Product, Design, Sales, Finance, Legal, and Support to align investment, resourcing, and go-to-market plans, and to ensure security and platform capabilities are embedded natively into DigitalOcean's infrastructure and applications.
  • Define and own the KPIs and business metrics that matter for this portfolio, including security product, platform reliability, billing accuracy and revenue integrity, identity and access assurance, and customer trust, and drive continuous improvement against them.
  • Establish engineering and product excellence practices across the organization, including meaningful success metrics, proactive technical debt management, high-quality operational readiness, and a culture of continuous improvement, automation, and knowledge sharing.
  • Ensure every product and service in scope meets the highest standards for security, privacy, compliance, and regulatory requirements, given the sensitivity of identity, billing, and secrets data.
  • Act as the senior escalation point and executive sponsor for security incidents, billing integrity issues, and platform reliability events that affect customers or the business.
  • Represent this business unit to the executive team, board, and key customers and partners; communicate strategy, progress, and risk to build confidence and drive alignment.
  • Coordinate with support, training, sales, and marketing teams to ensure customers and internal stakeholders have the materials, documentation, and enablement they need.
Desired Qualifications
  • Direct experience in security, identity, billing or monetization, or core platform services, ideally spanning more than one of these domains.

About the company

DigitalOcean provides cloud infrastructure for developers and businesses to build, host and scale applications and AI services. Teams rent virtual machines called Droplets, store data and run managed databases or Kubernetes clusters through a web console and APIs. Its AI services supply GPU computing, model inference and managed environments where software agents use tools and retain information between sessions. Customers pay for the resources they use, with subscriptions and managed services helping teams run applications without maintaining all the underlying infrastructure themselves. DigitalOcean was founded in 2012 and is headquartered in Broomfield, Colorado.

Digitalocean launches Agent Learning and Data Services for recursively self-improving ai agents.

Digitalocean launches Agent Learning and Data Services for recursively self-improving ai agents. Published on 10/12/2026 at 05:48 pm EDT S&P Capital IQ DigitalOcean announced Agent Learning and Data Services as another key element of its modern agentic stack, so teams can launch self-improving agents. Together with Inference Engine and Managed Agents, DigitalOcean is one of the few clouds where agents can run, learn, and improve on one platform. Agent Learning Services give every team that loop in one place. Insights records every step an agent takes, and Signals flags the sessions that matter: where the agent stalled, looped, lost the user, or failed. That evidence becomes a proposed change. Evaluations and Simulations test changes ahead of real users with realistic conversations built from flagged sessions. Each change feeds the next stage of the loop. This recursive self-improvement is available for models: the newly enhanced Inference Router picks the best-scoring model for each task, optimized for cost, quality, or the team?s own evaluations, and re-runs those evaluations as new models ship. Agent Data Services is the data layer the loop runs on, and the one agents work from. Every piece of a company?s data becomes agent-ready the moment it arrives. Video is transcribed and described, documents are read and indexed, logs and agent sessions are assembled with configurable redaction controls for sensitive details, and all of it is searchable by meaning in a single call. It lands in one catalog, designed to be logically isolated to that customer, with governance designed so that only authorized people and agents can reach each piece of data. Agent Learning Services are built on it: Signals writes sessions into it, and Optimizer draws its training and test data from it only where the customer expressly opts in. The same platform serves far more than the learning loop. Teams can use it for search and analytics across video, audio, documents, and structured data, and for grounding any agent in the company?s own records. Agent Learning Services (Insights, Signals, and Evaluations and Simulations) are available in public preview. Inference Router optimizer and Agent Data Services are available in private preview. DigitalOcean will demonstrate the services live at the Open Intelligence Summit on Oct. 13 in San Francisco. (C) S&P Capital IQ - Business Wire - 2026

DigitalOcean launches learning and data services for self-improving AI agents

DigitalOcean (NYSE: DOCN) has launched Agent Learning Services and Agent Data Services, which let companies build AI agents that improve themselves. The cloud provider announced the products ahead of its Open Intelligence Summit in San Francisco. Learning Services record what an agent does, flag where it fails, and test fixes before customers see them. Data Services give agents one managed place to read context and write back what they learn. The enhanced Inference Router already applies this loop to models, picking the best-scoring one for each task. DigitalOcean plans to extend it to agent workflows. Learning Services are in public preview. Data Services and the Inference Router optimizer are in private preview.
