About the company

NVIDIA designs the chips and software that power artificial intelligence and sells complete data center systems to cloud providers, AI labs, and other businesses, along with GeForce graphics cards for gamers. Its GPUs, chips that perform thousands of calculations at once, became the main hardware for AI after researchers used them to train the AlexNet image-recognition model in 2012. NVIDIA connects many GPUs with its own processors and networking gear into servers and rack-sized computers, and developers program them through its CUDA software. These systems bring in most of its sales, and it also makes chips for cars and robots. Jensen Huang co-founded NVIDIA in 1993, and it is based in Santa Clara, California.

What believers are saying

  • AI demand is still surging: data center sales rose 117% to $89 billion in the quarter ending July 2026.
  • Stock grants are worth more: shares hit a record in October 2026, up 28% for the year.
  • Engineering dominates hiring: 1,722 of NVIDIA's 2,686 job listings in October 2026 were in engineering.

What critics are saying

  • Big buyers are hedging: Meta's February 2026 agreement covers 6 gigawatts of AMD chips.
  • Financing its buyers is getting harder: lenders pushed back on NVIDIA's $500 billion chip-backed loan plan in October 2026.
  • Staff described long hours: Bloomberg's August 2024 interviews reported seven-day weeks, late nights and shouting matches.

What makes NVIDIA unique

  • Rivals must match its software too: over 7.5 million developers use CUDA and other NVIDIA tools to program its chips.
  • The CEO has a broad direct staff: Jensen Huang says over 60 people report to him, without one-on-ones.
  • People rarely leave: NVIDIA's yearly staff turnover is 3.7%, versus a 21.9% average across the tech industry.

Nvidia commits $1.3B to Amkor and unveils DSX POD to cut AI data centre deployment to 14 days

Nvidia unveiled a broad set of AI infrastructure and supply-chain initiatives at its GTC Berlin event, pushing further beyond its core GPU business. Shares rose about 2% in premarket trading Wednesday. The headline product is DSX POD, a prefabricated reference design for AI data centres that can be assembled and tested before reaching customer sites. Nvidia says it could cut deployment time at prepared locations from roughly six months to as little as 14 days. Partners include Dell, Hewlett Packard Enterprise, Lenovo, Schneider Electric, and Vertiv. Nvidia also signed a $1.3 billion agreement with Amkor to raise advanced packaging capacity by more than 300% by the end of 2028. King Yuan Electronics plans new US facilities backed by a $1.1 billion capacity reservation advance from Nvidia. Nvidia also introduced OpenShell, a reference architecture for building and securing AI agents.

Klique adds NVIDIA Nemotron, Dynamo and OpenShell support to cut GPU costs and secure AI agents

Klique, an enterprise control plane for AI resource management, governance, and cost visibility, announced new integrations with NVIDIA on October 21, 2026. The tools aim to improve GPU performance and help companies run AI agents at scale. Klique now supports NVIDIA Nemotron 3.5 Super VL, OpenShell, Dynamo, and NeMo Switchyard. Customers can run Nemotron on their own hardware, keeping data in-house and avoiding third-party per-token billing. Dynamo spreads inference across GPU workers, while OpenShell offers a secure, monitored runtime for autonomous agents. "Scaling production-grade agentic workflows shouldn't force enterprises to choose between spiraling cloud costs and data privacy," said Moses Guttmann, Klique's chief executive officer and co-founder. Klique, formerly ClearML, is headquartered in Berkeley, California.

Nvidia courts sovereignty-minded Europeans with open weights models for embedding, PDF parsing and driving

Nvidia is releasing a batch of open weights models at GTC Berlin, aiming to tap European demand for sovereign AI. The new Nemotron Retriever embedding and reranking models handle images and text in 34 languages, in sizes from one to eight billion parameters. Nvidia says its 8 billion parameter models rank top among dense models on the ViDoRe V3.1 benchmarks. A refreshed Nemotron Parse model extracts data from PDFs, and Nvidia claims it processes about 10.5 pages a second on a single H100. The company also launched Alpamayo 2 Edge, a compact autonomous driving model for real-time video and sensor data. Nvidia often publishes training data and recipes alongside weights, so customers can inspect models or build custom ones on its Nemotron architecture.

Nvidia marketing executive Laura Fay retires after a decade, with team grown from 60 to 600

Laura Fay, a marketing executive at Nvidia who reported directly to chief executive officer Jensen Huang, retired in July after about a decade at the company. Fay was vice president of global enterprise marketing. She said her team grew from roughly 60 to 600 people. Huang recruited her from Cisco, where she spent 22 years, to build Nvidia's enterprise marketing arm as it expanded beyond gaming. In February, Nvidia hired Google Cloud executive Alison Wagonfeld as its first chief marketing officer. Other longtime Nvidia leaders have also retired, including sales chief Jay Puri and chief accounting officer Donald Robertson. Some retirees said the company's soaring stock price influenced their decisions. Nvidia declined to comment.

Nvidia posts $96.2B quarterly revenue and 75% margin, but customer concentration looms

Nvidia is shifting from selling chips to selling whole AI computing systems, bundling processors, networking, CPUs, and software. Its latest announcements include the Vera Rubin platform, Spectrum-6 networking switches, and Vera CPUs. In the July quarter, the company posted revenue of $96.2 billion and a 75% gross margin. Compute & Networking revenue reached $88.3 billion, up from $41.3 billion a year earlier. Free cash flow was $21.3 billion. Customer concentration is a risk. One direct customer made up 16% of quarterly revenue, and three customers accounted for 16%, 15%, and 13% over the first half of fiscal 2027. Research and development spending rose 64% to $7.05 billion. Inventory provisions of $985 million cut gross margin by 0.8 percentage points. Nvidia trades at 24.88 times forward earnings.
