- Provide patient services as part of the virtual behavioral health team using evidence-based medicine.
- Diagnose and assess mental and behavioral health disorders in pediatric, adolescent, and young adult patients and formulate differential diagnoses.
- Apply appropriate clinical judgment in assessment and treatment while following established clinical care guidelines.
- Collaborate with the therapist team and medical leadership on patient treatment plans.
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests when appropriate.
- Conduct patient histories and initial evaluations of incoming patients.
- Prescribe medications as allowed by the applicable license.
- Provide medication management and counseling for patients.
- Educate patients and parents about medication side effects, risks and benefits, proper use of new medications, and reasonable outcome expectations.
- Establish and modify patient treatment plans based on clinical assessment, reassessment, and screening tools.
- Document each patient visit in the electronic medical record, including subjective and objective data, assessments, treatment plans, and other necessary documentation.
- Communicate patients' plans of care to the behavioral health team and patients' primary care physicians.
- Work with healthcare team members to educate patients about their medical care.
- Continuously update clinical knowledge and skills through consultation, formal and informal education, and literature review for the benefit of the clinician and healthcare team.
- Provide appropriate referrals when necessary.
- Provide supervision to psychiatric nurse practitioners.
- A New Jersey Medicaid number is preferred.
