Sartorius reports 7.7% sales growth as bioprocess equipment stabilises

Sartorius reported solid first-half results, with constant-currency sales up 7.7% and underlying EBITDA rising 3.9% as margins improved to 30.3%. Management confirmed full-year guidance. Bioprocess Solutions led performance, growing 8.3% in constant currencies. Consumables drove growth, whilst equipment stabilised slightly. Chief executive Michael Grosse said demand for biologics remains robust, particularly in monoclonal antibody manufacturing. However, advanced-therapy orders from two customers were delayed and could shift revenue into 2027. Tariff refunds and accounting effects distorted reported results but did not change underlying business trends. The company booked €26 million in customer compensation related to tariffs. Operating cash flow and free cash flow both improved sharply in the first half.

Sartorius completes full takeover of Stedim Biotech, delisting bioprocessing unit from Euronext Paris

Sartorius Stedim Biotech is set to be delisted from Euronext Paris following a squeeze-out by majority shareholder Sartorius Group. The voluntary tender offer and subsequent acquisition process, which began in early 2024, will transition the company from a separately traded stock into a fully integrated part of Sartorius Group. Headquartered in Aubagne, France, Sartorius Stedim Biotech develops bioprocessing equipment and single-use technologies for biopharmaceutical manufacturing. Its products include bioreactors, filtration systems and process automation tools used by pharmaceutical and biotech companies globally. North America represents a key market, with many US-based biopharma firms using its technologies. The company experienced normalised growth following pandemic-era demand surges, with customers working through elevated inventories accumulated during vaccine production. Despite short-term headwinds, long-term demand drivers remain supported by expanding biologics and advanced therapy pipelines.

Sartorius completes $560M bond placement with 3.75% coupon to refinance existing debt

Sartorius has completed a €500 million bond placement via its Dutch subsidiary Sartorius Finance B.V. The five-year bond, targeted at institutional investors, was more than four times oversubscribed and carries a 3.75% annual coupon. The life science group will use the proceeds for general corporate purposes, including refinancing existing debt. This includes the redemption of a €650 million bond with a 4.25% interest rate due in autumn 2026. Sartorius has applied for admission to trading on the Euro MTF market of the Luxembourg Stock Exchange. Chief financial officer Florian Funck said the successful issuance strengthens the company's balanced debt maturity profile and long-term financing position, whilst demonstrating investor confidence in Sartorius' strategic direction.

Sartorius launches platform to cut CAR-T manufacturing costs by 90% and quadruple output

Sartorius has launched the Eveo Cell Therapy Platform, an integrated system for producing autologous cell therapies including CAR-T treatments. The modular platform can increase output up to fourfold in existing cleanroom space whilst reducing manufacturing costs by approximately 90 percent. The system integrates cell selection, activation, gene modification, expansion and final formulation into a closed system. Its compact design allows a single operator to process eight patient batches simultaneously in the space traditionally needed for two, potentially producing over 350 doses annually compared to today's 100 doses in the same footprint. A successful pilot with CDMO ElevateBio validated the platform's real-world applicability. Sartorius will begin taking orders in September 2026, with first deliveries expected in 2027.
