Job Summary
As a Field Engineer at Red 6, you will take a critical role in the development of next-generation augmented reality systems. You will become part of a team exploring new concepts through design and fast iterative prototyping.
This position involves working in the field where customer aircraft are refitted, maintained and/or flown. This role will provide crucial support to engineering teams by assisting in various technical and administrative tasks. This role requires a combination of technical knowledge, organizational skills, and attention to detail to contribute to ensuring ATARS customer satisfaction and prompt resolution of customer concerns.
We are looking for someone with a productive mindset who can apply their hardware engineering expertise to solve problems in creative, insightful ways. Our ideal candidate has a strong fundamental engineering background, prototyping skills, 3D CAD capability, and experience supporting the design and manufacturing of aerospace or enterprise technology products. As Red 6 is a startup everyone in the company is expected to perform a variety of tasks as they are needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide on-site technical support for the installation, configuration, and maintenance of ATARS
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues as they arise in the field
- Conduct regular maintenance on equipment and produces daily reports
- Maintains and documents procedures and practices for technical integration into aircraft
- Install and commission hardware, software, and other engineering components
- Design, automate, and run electrical testing
- Diagram existing system configurations
- Works alongside engineers to build and test electronics and software in aircraft
- Conducts experiments under the guidance of engineers
- Facilitate communication between engineering, program management, and external stakeholders
- Complete ad-hoc internal and external presentations with guidance from senior managers
- Adhere to safety and FOD protocols and guidelines during on-site activities
- Own and operate inventory management systems for hardware components
Experience, Skills, and Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field is preferred but not required
- One or more years of relevant experience in engineering, engineering technology, design technology, or a related field
- Ability to understand engineering documents such as policy manuals, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Experience writing routine reports and correspondence
- Experience or familiarity with electro-mechanical assembly of hardware and/or cabling
- General knowledge of Aviation or Aircraft Operations preferred
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Familiarity with project management methodologies
- Familiarity with debugging electronics
- Familiarity with Linux
- Experience with benchtop lab equipment
- Technical troubleshooting and on-site support
- Installation and commissioning
- Client communication and documentation
- Safety compliance
- Must be able to commute or move to Orlando, FL
- This position may require a security clearance. To obtain clearance, employees must show proof of US Citizenship
