About the job
- At least one year of sales route experience is required.
- Fluency in Spanish and intermediate proficiency in English are required to meet Department of Transportation requirements.
- A valid driver's license for the state of residence and vehicle insurance required by state law are required.
- The motor vehicle record must meet Sigma driving standards.
- The employee must be able to work in a cold environment of approximately 34°F for prolonged periods.
- The employee must be able to sit and drive for a full shift of at least eight hours.
- The employee must be able to climb up and down and in and out of the truck cab and truck body.
- The employee must be able to stand for at least four hours.
- The employee must be able to repeatedly lift and move 30-pound boxes or buckets on and off shelves or a cart or hand truck.
- The employee must be able to repeatedly turn, twist, kneel, stoop, stand, rotate, bend, push, or pull to move 30 pounds.
- The employee must be able to repeatedly move a 75-pound load on a cart or hand truck without assistance.
- Deliver presold product orders to supermarket clients on an assigned route under minimal supervision.
- Unload product at customer locations and stock it according to customer specifications while collecting signed receipt documents in accordance with company policy.
- Load the truck at the distribution center and acknowledge and sign receipt of product loaded at the distribution center or received from a carrier.
- Perform accounts receivable activities, including issuing and reviewing signed invoices and credit memos, following inventory proof-of-delivery and return procedures, and receiving payment for delivered product.
- Inspect the vehicle and maintain vehicle and driver records, current license plates, and insurance, as well as routine maintenance required by company procedures and Department of Transportation or state regulations.
- Promptly report vehicle mechanical issues, accidents, and driving violations.
- Participate with Administration in daily inventory and product-return reconciliations.
- Verify that all scheduled product deliveries are completed.
- Travel up to 10% of the time.
- Experience delivering refrigerated food to stores.
