Requirements
  • An interim Secret clearance is required before starting; an active DoD Secret clearance is preferred.
  • A high school diploma or GED is required; a technical diploma is preferred.
  • Three years of experience fabricating cable, wire harness, or electro-mechanical assemblies in an aerospace, defense, or similar regulated manufacturing environment is required; experience may substitute for educational requirements.
  • Proficiency in IPC/WHMA-A-620 wire harness standards is required; certification is preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, wire lists, and bills of material is required.
  • Proficiency with hand and pneumatic crimp tools, wire strippers, soldering irons, and basic electrical test equipment, including a multimeter, hi-pot tester, and continuity tester, is required.
  • Basic soldering skills are required.
  • Ability to perform close, detailed work for extended periods, including use of magnification equipment, is required.
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods at a workbench and frequently use hands and fingers for fine motor tasks is required.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and carry 25 pounds or more is required.
  • Ability to use required personal protective equipment, such as safety glasses and an ESD wrist strap, is required.
  • Overtime and shift flexibility may be required to meet production and delivery schedules.
Responsibilities
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, wire lists, cable schedules, and interconnect diagrams to fabricate cable and harness assemblies.
  • Cut, strip, and prepare power, RF/coax, signal, and data-bus wire and cable to specified lengths and tolerances.
  • Crimp, solder, and mechanically terminate connectors, lugs, splices, and back shells.
  • Fabricate RF/coaxial cable assemblies, including shield and braid termination, connector installation, and cable routing for controlled-impedance applications.
  • Install shielding, sleeving, lacing, wrapping, and strain relief in accordance with workmanship standards.
  • Perform in-process and final electrical tests, including continuity, hi-pot/dielectric withstand, insulation resistance, and applicable RF checks such as VSWR, and document results.
  • Identify and label assemblies to maintain full material and process traceability, including wire and connector lots and serial or lot numbers.
  • Support first article inspection builds and provide sample assemblies and data for engineering and quality review.
  • Identify nonconformances, generate discrepancy documentation, and support root-cause and corrective-action activities.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, ESD-safe workstation consistent with 5S and lean manufacturing practices.
  • Use, maintain, and calibrate hand tools, crimp tools, and test equipment, and promptly report tooling or equipment issues.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering and Quality Assurance to resolve build issues and support continuous improvement.
  • Accurately and promptly complete production paperwork, travelers, and electronic work instructions.
  • Comply with applicable safety, ESD, FOD-prevention, and export-control (ITAR/EAR) procedures in a DoD manufacturing environment.
  • Work primarily in a manufacturing or production shop and occasionally support work on or near vehicle platforms.
