What believers are saying

  • Demand is compounding: August 2026 results showed CoreWeave quarterly revenue more than doubled to $2.58 billion.
  • Contracts support expansion: CoreWeave reported $104 billion of June 2026 backlog, subject to service delivery.
  • Eligible U.S. employees buy discounted equity: CoreWeave's purchase plan prices shares 15% below the lower opening or closing price.

What critics are saying

  • Customer losses threaten stability: three buyers supplied 72% of CoreWeave's Q2 2026 revenue.
  • Borrowing consumes revenue: CoreWeave's net interest expense reached $640 million in Q2 2026, reported in August 2026.
  • Afton technicians face urgent callouts: CoreWeave requires onsite emergency response within 60 minutes during scheduled on-call shifts.

What makes CoreWeave unique

  • Hardware access stays direct: CoreWeave runs Kubernetes on bare metal, without a virtualization layer.
  • Support skips nontechnical handoffs: CoreWeave says customers reach engineers cross-trained across its stack directly.
  • Top AI labs use CoreWeave: the company says nine of ten leading foundation model providers rely on its cloud.

Blackstone's $2.3 Billion CoreWeave Bet Sparked a Trillion-Dollar AI Lending Boom

In 2023, executives at Blackstone (NYSE:BX) asked CoreWeave (NASDAQ:CRWV) two questions: “What is a GPU?” and “Is AI real?” Three years later, the $2.3 billion financing Blackstone helped arrange has become the blueprint for a chip-backed lending market that could...

Goldman upgrades CoreWeave to Buy with $106 target despite 56% share slump

Goldman Sachs upgraded CoreWeave from Neutral to Buy on October 19, 2026, even as it cut its 12-month price target from $139 to $106. The new target implies a gain of about 73% from the October 16 close of $61.39. CoreWeave shares have lost nearly half their value since August, partly because yields on its 2031 and 2032 bonds climbed to around 15%. Analyst Gabriela Borges argues investors have overestimated the effect of future borrowing and underestimated the profit from new data center contracts. CoreWeave rents Nvidia chips to firms such as Meta and OpenAI. It had locked in about $104 billion in future revenue by the end of the second quarter, but posted a $626 million net loss that quarter. Ark Invest bought about $25.8 million of the stock in mid-October.

Neoclouds explained: GPU providers behind the AI boom face a $3.5T impairment risk

Neoclouds, specialist providers that rent out GPU capacity for AI training and inference, have gone from unknown startups to listed companies with contracts worth billions of dollars. CoreWeave, Nebius and IREN lead the listed group; Lambda, Crusoe and Fluidstack remain private. Their shares fell hard in October 2026. CoreWeave dropped 29%, leaving it valued at about $34 billion against a 2025 peak of about $90 billion; Nebius fell 27% and IREN 32%. CoreWeave's unsecured debt yielded about 15%. On October 14, 2026, Gartner predicted that more than 80% of neocloud providers will stop operating independently by 2030. It also warned that more than $3.5 trillion of AI infrastructure spending could face impairment. Demand remains strong. CoreWeave co-founder Brannin McBee said nearly all of its 2027 capacity is sold.

Blackstone's Gray says CoreWeave will "find a way through" financing strain on $51.6B debt

Blackstone president and chief operating officer Jon Gray says CoreWeave will "find a way through" its financing pressure. He told CNBC the neocloud company has a talented chief executive officer and a strong underlying business. CoreWeave's stock has fallen 14% over the past week, while bond yields and credit default swap spreads have risen. The company has roughly $51.6 billion in total debt, including about $35 billion in notes, bonds, and loans. Gray said demand for computing power is strong, with compute pricing up 50% for neoclouds that get through. Their legacy chips are worth more than expected, he added, and their data centres are leased below market. Blackstone reported third-quarter revenue of $3.22 billion, below the $3.28 billion analysts expected. Adjusted earnings of $1.32 per share beat the $1.26 estimate.

Fidelity's Timmer says AI bubble risk lies in debt, as CoreWeave bond yields top 15%

Fidelity's director of global macro, Jurrien Timmer, says any AI bubble may sit in debt markets rather than stocks. Yields on bonds from AI cloud provider CoreWeave topped 15% last week, even as equity valuations fall. Timmer compared CoreWeave's yield with a Bloomberg index of junk-rated telecom bonds from the 1998 to 2000 boom. In that era, the warning came from debt, not dot-com stocks. Highly rated AI borrowers still look stable, he said. CoreWeave's 2031 notes yielded 15.78% last Thursday. Its debt rose from $21 billion at the end of 2025 to $35 billion by June 30, and net interest expense of $640 million took about a quarter of second-quarter revenue. Chief executive officer Mike Intrator said its backlog, near $104 billion, more than covers its debt.
