The Fujifilm Instax Pal 2 digicam looks nothing like its weird predecessor. Sep 14, 2026 Fujifilm has announced the Instax Pal 2, a tiny digital camera that has an all-new, analog-inspired look and a lot of changes. The original Instax Pal arrived three years ago, promising a palm-sized digital camera that was effectively Instax in name only. It was a somewhat circular, very weird-looking camera. Fujifilm effectively went back to the drawing board with the Pal 2. It shares only a few things with its predecessor, not least of which is its name. It's still a digital camera that doesn't directly capture instant analog photos, unlike most Instax cameras. It also remains relatively compact, although the look is very different this time around. The Instax Pal 2 looks like a miniaturized, squat film camera. It has a built-in optical viewfinder, something the original Pal lacked. It has a prominent shutter release, a top screen for viewing and framing photos, fun filter effects, and a new "Animation" shooting mode. The new Animation mode captures 10 frames and turns them into a flipbook-style animation. The Pal 2 works alongside Fujifilm's downloadable Instax Pal app, which can act as a remote shutter release via Bluetooth, accept transferred photos from the camera, and send photos to an Instax wireless printer. The Pal 2 also has a microSD card slot. Unlike other Instax cameras, the Pal 2 lets users switch between Instax Mini, Instax Square, or Instax Wide instant film and frameless formats. The app lets users add filters, text, and stickers to their digital photos. "When we introduced the original Pal in 2024, some consumers weren't sure what to make of it," said Bing Liem, division president, Imaging Division, Fujifilm North America Corporation. "Its uniqueness wasn't for some, while others felt it was a perfect go-anywhere camera and loved the overall image-making process that makes Pal different from other cameras. When designing Pal 2, we gathered extensive customer feedback on the original Pal. And with its new look, reminiscent of a classic analog camera, complete with an optical viewfinder, and the ability to send/post images digitally or print images via instax smartphone printers or any of our Evo hybrid cameras, Pal 2 puts options in the palm of your hand," Liem continues. Pricing and availability. The Fujifilm Instax Pal 2 will be available later this month for $169.95 in the United States and $219.99 CAD in Canada. The Pal 2 comes in black or white colorways. Fujifilm has launched ETERNA ProRemote, a remote control app for its GFX ETERNA 55 digital filmmaking camera. The app, available from 10 September, connects to iOS and iPadOS devices via Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, or wired LAN. ETERNA ProRemote offers three connection modes to suit different production needs. Simple mode connects via Bluetooth for basic operations. Advanced-Single mode uses Bluetooth and Wi-Fi for fuller control whilst monitoring live feeds. Advanced-Multiple mode supports up to four cameras simultaneously through an external access point. The app enables users to adjust camera settings, focus, iris, and zoom whilst viewing live footage. It also displays exposure and colour evaluation tools including waveform, vectorscope, and histogram. Users can transfer recorded files directly to their connected device and save or copy camera settings across multiple units.
The Fujifilm GFX Eterna 55 is getting a very nice dedicated viewfinder. Sep 07, 2026 Fujifilm has announced the development of the VF-GFXC2, an external electronic viewfinder (EVF) for the Eterna 55 cinema camera. It promises a mix of high resolution, brightness, and an aspect ratio that matches the Eterna's 4:3 open gate. At launch, the Eterna 55 only had the option of an external LCD, but no viewfinder. At IBC in Amsterdam last year, an example of a proposed EVF was making its rounds to select media and cinematographers, so the announcement that it is actually coming isn't too much of a surprise. The VF-GFXC2 features an OLED panel with a resolution of 2048x1536 pixels and a peak brightness of 1,000 nits along with a native 4:3 aspect ratio to be the most effective display of the full 4:3 open-gate GFX image format. Fujifilm also says it included a large eyecup to block ambient light so that camera operators can effectively confirm focus and fine subject details. Fujifilm also says that the EVF will optimize display characteristics based on screen brightness, allowing users to confirm natural image tones even when brightness settings are adjusted. "We are delighted to announce a dedicated EVF for GFX ETERNA 55 that we believe will meet the demands of modern filmmakers everywhere," John Blackwood, director, Brand & Product Marketing, Electronic Imaging and Optical Devices Divisions at Fujifilm North America Corporation says. "Viewfinders have long provided a mode of isolation for camera operators to place their focus on image composition - to effectively see a scene and craft the story. The OLED panel used in this EVF provides exceptional contrast with high brightness and resolution, allowing any user to see picture in fantastic detail." The VF-GFXC2 is slated to arrive before the end of the year, although no specific date was provided. The Eterna ProRemote app. In addition to the viewfinder, Fujifilm also announced the Eterna ProRemote app for iOS and iPadOS. The app can connect to the mobile device via Bluetooth, WiFi, or wired LAN, which Fujifilm says supports the needs of a variety of production types, ranging from single remote operation to multi-camera setups with up to four connected cameras. The app allows immediate, easy connection to the Eterna camera without detailed networking information and gives wireless control of the camera over to the mobile device. The app can be used to change camera settings and adjust the focus, iris, and zoom parameters all while viewing the live camera feed. The app can also serve as an additional monitoring output, giving users a flexible monitoring option, depending on the production environment, Fujifilm says. The app is available starting today.
