Full-timeWarsaw, PolandNo salary listedIn-person

About the Job

Requirements

  • At least 10 years of software engineering experience, including at least 4 years in engineering management and proven second-line management experience leading Engineering Managers across multiple teams.
  • Strong command of full-stack system design, API design and maintenance using REST, GraphQL, or equivalent, clean backend-to-frontend contracts, and the architecture of exposing data systems through service layers to end-user interfaces.
  • Technical credibility across frontend platform engineering, including component architecture, design systems, micro-frontend patterns, and modern build tooling, and large-scale data infrastructure, including distributed processing with PySpark or Spark on Databricks, workflow orchestration with Airflow, and cloud data services on AWS.
  • Experience managing teams with high operational and keep-the-lights-on load alongside product delivery, protecting delivery capacity, making operational work visible, and driving systemic toil reduction.
  • Ability to set and enforce engineering standards across teams, including CI/CD maturity, observability and alerting using tools such as Sentry, Prometheus, and PagerDuty, data quality frameworks, and testing coverage.
  • Ability to establish operational objectives and policies for a department, manage complex multi-team delivery end to end, and be accountable for production systems and SLAs.
  • Ability to mentor and coach managers and senior engineers, build feedback cultures, and develop leaders who can operate autonomously.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical decisions to senior leadership, align diverse stakeholders in ambiguous situations, and represent teams clearly and credibly.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and grow Engineering Managers and senior engineers across the frontend platform and data delivery teams, building an organization able to scale with the business.
  • Own hiring, performance management, and career development across the department, fostering engineering excellence and psychological safety.
  • Establish goals, team rituals, and execution cadences across a geographically distributed organization to support alignment, accountability, and high-quality delivery.
  • Develop organizational priorities, workforce planning, and department-level objectives in partnership with senior leadership.
  • Set technical direction and roadmaps for both teams, establish operational objectives, guide architectural evolution, and ensure platforms scale reliably.
  • Own the unified internal UI platform, maintaining platform integrity, shared component quality, and developer experience for teams building on it.
  • Drive data delivery architectural strategy through a major system re-architecture, removing single points of failure, developing a lightweight extensible pipeline model, and expanding delivery capabilities to new data types and clients.
  • Own technical direction for pipeline reliability, data quality, SLA management, and the API layer bridging backend data systems with frontend tooling.
  • Oversee full-stack delivery across React-based frontend platforms, RESTful API design and maintenance, and backend data processing systems, ensuring clean layer contracts and sound architectural decisions.
  • Champion engineering practices across both teams, including observability, CI/CD, incident management, on-call health, data quality frameworks, and testing coverage.
  • Participate in department-level and cross-organizational architecture discussions, representing Data Delivery’s constraints, requirements, and roadmap to senior stakeholders.
  • Partner with Product Management to translate business strategy into engineering roadmaps, navigate trade-offs, and support predictable delivery across both teams.
  • Collaborate with Data Science, Platform Engineering, and commercial teams to ensure the platforms are integrated, governed, and fit for downstream use cases.
  • Engage Business Development and commercial stakeholders on partner integrations and evolving data delivery requirements.
  • Represent Data Delivery as its primary technical voice with senior leadership, communicating roadmap progress, risks, and strategic opportunities and advocating for departmental priorities.
  • Drive predictable, high-quality delivery across concurrent workstreams while balancing platform development with ongoing operational and keep-the-lights-on responsibilities.
  • Own operational reliability for both platforms, including on-call practices, incident response, post-mortems, PagerDuty SLA management, and reducing operational load through system maturity.
  • Define and enforce data quality and observability standards for delivery pipelines to ensure accuracy and integrity of data feeds to clients and partners.
  • Own the department budget and make cloud cost efficiency and resource allocation decisions, including Databricks compute optimization, with regard to business impact.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience in ad tech, data licensing, or media technology, with familiarity with data feed delivery, audience segmentation, or programmatic data flows.
  • Hands-on experience building or evolving internal tooling platforms and web applications for business operations teams, with backend APIs over data systems and frontend interfaces for non-technical users.
  • Experience with FinOps practices and driving cloud cost optimization, particularly for Databricks or Spark compute.
  • Familiarity with data privacy regulations such as GDPR and CCPA and their practical engineering implications.
  • Track record of managing geographically distributed teams across multiple time zones.

About the Company

Samba TV

Delivers TV audience measurement and insights

Samba TV collects and analyzes TV viewing data to help advertisers, broadcasters, and content creators understand what people watch. It embeds its technology in about 35 million smart TVs across 20 brands, creating a large viewership database and a household identity graph. The system works by using a proprietary multi-source panel from participating TVs to gather viewing activity, then turning that data into insights and analytics that clients can use to plan ads, optimize content, and measure performance. What sets Samba TV apart is the size and scope of its data: it claims the largest end-to-end viewership dataset and identity graph in the industry, with a panel hundreds of times larger than typical measurements and broad brand partnerships, while offering privacy controls for viewers who opt in or out. The company aims to provide data-driven, actionable insights to improve advertising effectiveness and content delivery across the global smart TV market.
