About the Role

As a Production Technician, you will work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment assembling and testing precision micro-optical and electromechanical systems.

We are looking for qualified production technicians who prefer to work afternoon shift from 2pm - 10pm.

The role offers $68,900 annualized base salary, plus 8% bonus. Plus additional 15% loading for the afternoon shift.

Key responsibilities include:
•Assembling complex micro-optical and electromechanical components following detailed work instructions.
•Operating custom automation equipment for precision assembly processes.
•Troubleshooting sub-assemblies and reporting quality issues.
•Collaborating with Engineering and New Product Introduction (NPI) teams for prototype builds.
•Contributing to 5S and continuous improvement initiatives.

About You
We are looking for detail-oriented professionals with a passion for precision manufacturing.

Essential/Highly Recommended Qualifications & Skills

Formal Education (Desirable but not Essential):
•High School Certificate with strong results in science or technology subjects.
•A technical certification in one of the following fields:
o Electronics
o Mechanical Engineering Technology

Alcon buys Neurotech for $550M to add first FDA-approved MacTel therapy

Alcon has acquired Neurotech Pharmaceuticals for $550 million, adding a rare eye disease therapy to its retina portfolio. The Geneva-based eye care company may owe further contingent payments, including on commercial milestones. Neurotech's ENCELTO is the first and only US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved treatment for adults with idiopathic Macular Telangiectasia Type 2 (MacTel). The FDA approved it in March 2025, and it is available only in the US. MacTel is a progressive retinal disease that causes irreversible central vision loss. About 25,000 people in the US have been diagnosed, with 2,000-3,000 new cases each year. Alcon expects the deal to be slightly dilutive to core diluted earnings per share in 2027, and accretive after that.

FDA approves Alcon's Brytly eye drops, lasting up to 50% longer than Lumify

Alcon said the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved BRYTLY Redness Reliever Eye Drops, a new over-the-counter product for eye redness. The Geneva-based eye care company announced the approval on October 16, 2026. One drop works in a minute and lasts up to 12 hours, Alcon said. Based on label claims, that is up to 50% longer than Lumify, which lasts up to eight hours. BRYTLY contains no bleaches or dyes. Studies showed a low risk of redness rebound when used as directed. "This FDA approval marks an exciting milestone for Alcon," said Jonathan Balch, general manager of Ocular Health & Pharmaceuticals. The drops should reach major US retailers and online stores in the coming months, with other markets to follow.
