Requirements
  • Experience as a Registered Nurse and mandatory registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency.
  • Previous experience in residential care services.
  • Demonstrated clinical expertise, contemporary clinical practices, a thorough understanding of aged care standards, and evidence-based procedures to support safe and effective healthcare delivery.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to build rapport with residents, their families, and staff.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff and management, with demonstrated respectful and collaborative relationship-building.
  • Proven ability to coach and guide team members while managing day-to-day responsibilities and operational demands.
  • Sound judgment in knowing when to escalate issues after applying experience and problem-solving skills to resolve them independently.
  • Intermediate computer skills and experience working in an electronic environment.
  • Current NDIS Workers Screening Check.
Responsibilities
  • Treat residents with empathy and dignity, providing them with choices in their daily lives.
  • Monitor and correct staff practices, ensuring effective coordination of residents’ daily clinical and personal care needs.
  • Establish, monitor, and update residents’ care plans by reviewing, discussing, developing, and writing them.
  • Provide professional, aligned, and capable leadership to the team in keeping with the organisation’s vision, mission, values, and strategy.
  • Oversee the activities of registered nurses, allied health professionals, and doctors to ensure clinical benchmarks are achieved and organisational policies are followed.
  • Provide accurate and complete information to the multidisciplinary team to enable them to perform their duties effectively.
  • Monitor documentation to optimise funding and ensure required information is complete, accurate, and timely.
  • Encourage teamwork, provide advice and guidance, assist with performance reviews, and participate in the selection of registered nurses.
  • Ensure families are fully informed about clinical issues, provide emotional support, coordinate counselling, and escalate issues as necessary.
  • Oversee the initial resident assessment process to ensure suitable residents are admitted in the appropriate category.
