  • Experience leading, coaching, and developing others in customer research and discovery skills.
  • Ability to communicate insights to audiences at all levels.

Responsibilities

  • Lead mixed-method customer insight work end-to-end, from problem framing and method selection through fieldwork, synthesis, recommendations, and activation.
  • Lead priority studies covering segmentation and personas, needs-based analysis, decision-making unit and buying roles, ideal customer profile refinement, win/loss and deal insights, value proposition and messaging testing, lifecycle insights, and customer journey insights.
  • Triangulate research findings with internal signals, including customer relationship management themes, product usage, support and contact-centre patterns, and sales enablement feedback.
  • Build discovery capability across Product Managers through coaching, materials, and structured upskilling.
  • Act as a centre of excellence for insight and discovery by setting standards, enabling teams, and ensuring insights are collected and reused across the organisation.
  • Run office hours and on-demand coaching, including reviewing guides, critiquing research plans, and helping with synthesis.
  • Join early discovery sessions as a shadow coach and provide targeted feedback on question quality, bias, probing, and synthesis.
  • Create a lightweight Discovery Development Path for Product Managers, such as Foundations, Practitioner, and Advanced levels.
  • Build standard discussion guide templates for discovery, concept, and win/loss research; screener templates and recruiting best practices; consent and privacy language for B2B contact handling; note-taking and synthesis frameworks; and an insight-to-action recommendation template.
  • Deliver periodic training sessions on interviewing skills, avoiding bias, synthesis, when and why to validate with quantitative research, and communicating confidence and limitations.
  • Define guidance on when Product Manager-led research is appropriate versus when a researcher should lead, including sensitive customer escalations, high-stakes pricing decisions, regulated topics, and executive customer interviews.
  • Maintain consistent practices for ethics, consent, participant management, and insight storage.
  • Maintain an insight repository with tagging, findability, and reuse to reduce duplication and repeated rediscovery of problems.
  • Build an insight intake and prioritisation model for quick-turn support, strategic programmes, and enablement requests.
  • Manage vendor relationships where relevant, including briefing agencies and assessing quality to ensure consistent outputs.
  • Partner with Product Managers and product leadership to convert insights into decisions and actions.
  • Establish lightweight measurement plans to track outcomes such as win rate, time-to-value, adoption, renewal drivers, and messaging clarity.
  • Improve organisational learning loops by tracking what was done, what changed, and what was learned.

  • Experience working within an Agile software development team.
  • Experience creating and using Agentic frameworks to deliver more efficient outputs using AI.
