Obsidian advances FIRE ADAPT wildfire decision tool with NASA-backed knowledge graph

Obsidian Solutions Group has announced progress in Year 3 of FIRE ADAPT, a NASA-funded project developing decision-support tools for wildland firefighters. The initiative, created with the Western Fire Chiefs Association and Processus Group, uses a semantic knowledge graph to map critical decisions and supporting information during wildfire response. FIRE ADAPT addresses the challenge of delivering relevant data to firefighters making rapid decisions in increasingly complex environments. The system creates a digital twin of wildfire decision-making by integrating weather, terrain, fuels and resource deployment data with firefighter expertise. Year 3 expanded data collection and integration whilst maintaining deep practitioner engagement through workshops and exercises. The team plans to enhance the knowledge graph, integrate AI tools and broaden community engagement to create a shared framework for improving training and operational effectiveness across the wildfire community.
