Responsibilities
  • Ensure expense reports comply with the Expense and Travel Policy through reviews, controls, follow-ups, and escalations.
  • Apply internal controls related to expenses and document exceptions.
  • Propose and implement control improvements to reduce exceptions and increase compliance.
  • Analyze expenses and expense reports, including trends, variances, and indicators by expense type, department, resource, and other relevant categories.
  • Produce and enhance management reports and dashboards with expense and business-travel KPIs.
  • Automate and standardize reporting to improve data quality and reduce manual tasks.
  • Prepare and post journal entries in the enterprise resource planning system in accordance with the closing calendar.
  • Identify and quantify travel cost-reduction opportunities and formulate recommendations.
  • Collect, structure, and validate data required for greenhouse gas calculations related to business travel.
  • Improve data quality through validation rules, consistency checks, and traceability.
  • Contribute to evolving practices that support the organization's climate objectives.
  • Participate in implementing and enhancing artificial intelligence solutions applied to expense reports.
  • Identify practical artificial intelligence use cases, including anomaly detection, recommendations, intelligent controls, and assistance with expense report submissions.
  • Help establish rules and controls for safe and effective artificial intelligence use, including data quality, traceability, and confidentiality.
  • Participate in continuous improvement of operational, financial, and internal control processes.
  • Own or co-lead optimization projects, including planning, progress tracking, deliverable coordination, and documentation.
  • Contribute to standardizing the team's methods, templates, and procedures.

Intact closes 75% of Kingston wildfire claims within a year, rebuilds 60+ homes

Intact Financial Corporation reports that 75% of insurance claims from last year's Kingston, Newfoundland and Labrador wildfire have been closed, nearly one year after the disaster. The wildfire burned approximately 10,708 hectares and destroyed over 60 homes among Intact customers. The insurer deployed more than 100 team members from across Canada to support the community. Intact received over 400 personal property claims and mobilised adjusters within 48 hours of evacuation orders lifting. On Side Restoration, Intact's wholly owned restoration company, has been rebuilding the destroyed homes. The integrated supply chain approach allowed Intact to coordinate assessment through final rebuild despite high demand for labour and materials. Tracy Laughlin, Senior Vice President of Claims at Intact, emphasised the company's commitment to building relationships with affected customers throughout the recovery process.
