About the Job

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field is required; a business degree alone does not qualify.
  • Three to six years of experience in a technical product role, ideally with prior individual-contributor engineering experience.
  • Working knowledge of system architecture, REST APIs, microservices, and database design, including the ability to read code, sketch data flows, and explain integration tradeoffs.
  • Fluency in SQL, including writing, reading, and debugging non-trivial queries against a production data warehouse independently.
  • A referenceable technical product shipping history, including personal end-to-end ownership of at least one platform, API, or internal system and evidence of the metric moved.
  • Daily, fluent use of agentic AI tools such as Claude, Claude Code, Cursor, MCP-based workflows, or comparable tools; this will be demonstrated in the interview.
  • Ability to show a system taken over in a messy state and left cleaner, with fewer moving parts, better documentation, or an improved metric.
  • Strong written communication for specs, product requirement documents, runbooks, and decision documents.
  • Ability to present complex systems clearly and concisely.
  • Fluency with Confluence, Jira, and Monday for documentation, shipping, and cross-team scheduling.

Responsibilities

  • Own the roadmap for internal tools and microservices supporting Seeking, including support and moderation tools, automated content moderation systems, the internal payments system, and related technical services.
  • Treat each internal system as a product with a defined user, metric, and documented interface.
  • Set quarterly objectives and key results for the owned product area and define leading and lagging key performance indicators for each owned key result.
  • Simplify and organize systems by renaming, restructuring, deprecating, and consolidating components so new engineers can become productive quickly.
  • Own technical documentation in Confluence, including diagrams, data flows, API contracts, and runbooks.
  • Write specifications, user stories, and acceptance criteria clear enough for engineers to build from directly.
  • Prototype endpoints, admin screens, and internal tools before they enter the engineering backlog, using tools such as Postman, Figma, code, Claude Code, or Cursor.
  • Write SQL against the production data warehouse, read code, and trace calls to answer technical questions directly.
  • Use agent-assisted environments to produce real, testable artifacts in a single working session.
  • Act as the primary translator between engineering and non-technical teams that depend on the systems, including support, moderation, marketing, and finance.
  • Ensure technical feasibility for proposals and drive prioritization of work to be built.
  • Communicate updates, tradeoffs, and risks to stakeholders in clear, direct language.
  • Own the internal payments system as a product and understand its end-to-end authorization, capture, settlement, reconciliation, refund, chargeback, tokenization, and PCI-scope flows.
  • Own moderation and support tooling, including the LLM-based message moderation pipeline.
  • Track transaction success rate, decline rate by gateway, latency, ticket time-to-resolution, and moderation service-level agreement metrics.
  • Instrument features with the data layer in mind from the start, using Amplitude, Mixpanel, Firebase, or comparable tools.
  • Analyze data to measure the success of technical changes and follow up with fixes or deprecations.
  • Propose data-driven improvements to owned systems and support them with metrics.

Desired Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience as a software engineer before moving into product, ideally in backend, platform, or infrastructure engineering.
  • Technical working experience with payments systems, flows, entities, PCI scope, and reconciliation.
  • Working experience with support ticketing and content moderation systems, including LLM-based moderation pipelines.
  • Cloud fluency, preferably AWS, including working knowledge of DevOps practices and deployment pipelines.
  • Experience in dating, social, marketplace, subscription, or other consumer-focused product categories.
  • Public work such as a technical portfolio, open-source contribution, authored specification, system diagram, or shared agent toolkit.
  • A master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.

About the Company

Reflex Media

Develops websites and mobile applications

Reflex Media is a technology-focused maker of digital products, specializing in building websites and mobile applications for clients. Its main work involves designing, developing, and delivering web and mobile solutions, from planning and frontend/backend development to deployment and ongoing maintenance. The way its products work is through end-to-end software development: gathering client needs, designing interfaces, coding cross-platform apps or responsive websites, testing, and launching, with post-launch support as needed. Compared with competitors, Reflex Media differentiates itself by offering dedicated end-to-end development services that cover both web and mobile projects, enabling clients to get a complete product from a single team rather than coordinating multiple vendors. The company's goal is to help businesses establish or improve their online presence by delivering reliable, scalable digital products tailored to their needs.
