Requirements
  • Graduate from an ARRT-recognized education program or be AART registered for Pennsylvania candidates.
  • Obtain advanced registry in computed tomography within one year of the hire date.
  • Graduate from an ARRT-recognized School of Radiologic Technology for New Jersey candidates.
  • Have one year of required experience.
  • Hold a current state license, including NJDEP for New Jersey candidates, and appropriate ARRT registry.
  • Obtain current Basic Life Support certification within three months of hire.
  • Meet the physical requirements of frequent hand and finger use, extended sitting, standing and walking, patient pushing, pulling and lifting up to 300 pounds with assistance, occasional stooping and overhead arm movement, and lifting or moving objects up to 30 pounds.
Responsibilities
  • Directly assist the radiologist during invasive procedures and perform computed tomography examinations as directed.
  • Communicate clinical observations during computed tomography examinations to the radiologist and present the patient's documented clinical history.
  • Demonstrate competency in the Radiology Information System and Hospital Information System modules appropriate to the role.
  • Inject contrast for computed tomography scans according to department policy, and complete and review the patient computed tomography questionnaire before each examination.
  • Perform three-dimensional imaging functions.
  • Provide patients with educational information about their examinations.
  • Maintain professional development through active participation in in-service and continuing education programs.
  • Follow downtime procedures accurately to ensure information availability and continuity of patient care.
  • Review patient condition, history, and relevant background information before proposed examinations.
  • Ensure the quality of digital images sent to the Picture Archiving and Communication System, verify the correct patient from the worklist, and confirm medical record accuracy before transmission.
  • Support department success in achieving the hospital-designated Press Ganey score by providing patient education.
  • Complete annual peer review of images in accordance with department standards.
Desired Qualifications
  • Two or more years of experience as a computed tomography technologist in a hospital setting.
  • Recent computed tomography scan experience.
  • An Associate of Applied Science degree in Radiologic Technology.
