Requirements
  • The candidate shall have consecutive employment in a position with comparable responsibilities within the past five years.
  • The candidate must be able to use a computer to communicate via email.
  • The candidate must be proficient in Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, and related tools and technology.
  • The candidate must have a bachelor's or advanced degree in actuarial science, statistics, computer science, insurance, engineering, mathematics, economics, or a related analytics-oriented discipline.
  • The candidate must have five or more years of experience with relational databases, data extraction, and organizing and analyzing complex data sets.
  • The candidate must have experience in agricultural insurance for private companies and/or governments.
  • The candidate must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • The candidate must have advanced data analytics experience, including time-series regression and applying appropriate statistical models to job tasks.
  • The candidate must be a U.S. citizen.
Responsibilities
  • Support the PR0001 Program Support requirements.
  • Use statistical models to analyze data and calculate the probability and costs associated with crop production and marketing, patterns of loss and regional differences, and the adequacy of premium rates relative to insurance experience.
  • Summarize analytical results to design and price insurance policies.
  • Create an evaluation and recommendation for the Onion Crop Insurance Program and Pilot Removal Option.
  • Perform industry research, analyze insurance experience, review policy content and structure, evaluate rating sufficiency, conduct pricing analysis, and assess the plan of insurance.
  • Create statistical summaries describing the crop program and each region, including insured liability to total crop value, total liability, and loss ratios.
  • Determine discrepancies between policy provisions, procedures, current practices, and industry technology, and identify policy vulnerabilities and weaknesses.
  • Perform an independent evaluation of prices established for the insured commodity.
  • Prepare statistical summaries of county average yields.
  • Prepare data analysis and supporting material for the Onion Crop Insurance Program and Onion Removal Pilot Issues Evaluation Report.
  • Produce thorough, accurate, appropriately documented work products that comply with established criteria and meet milestones and delivery schedules.
  • Travel as coordinated with the technical point of contact and approved in writing by the Contracting Officer in accordance with Federal Travel Regulations.
Desired Qualifications
  • Three or more Actuarial Casualty Actuarial Society exams are preferred.
  • Experience in crop insurance is highly preferred.
