Requirements
  • Sufficient education to obtain a valid California RN license.
  • Clinical RN II candidates must have 6 months to 1 year of experience as a Clinical RN I at MarinHealth Medical Center, or the clinical experience identified in the appropriate unit-specific job description addendum.
  • A California RN license is required at hire.
  • Basic Life Support certification is required at hire.
  • Integrative Agitation Management (IAMTAC) certification is required within 30 days of hire.
  • Ability to demonstrate proficiency in all items of the Staff Nurse Skills Criteria at the conclusion of the probationary period.
  • Demonstrated leadership and delegation skills.
  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize work, including time management.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with team members, other teams, physicians, and departments.
  • Ability to read, speak, write, understand, and follow English verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care and services based on the physical, psychosocial, educational, safety, and related criteria appropriate to the ages of patients served in the assigned service area.
  • Required measles, mumps, varicella, and annual influenza immunizations as a condition of employment, subject to applicable exemptions.
Responsibilities
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care; direct and appropriately delegate to ensure safe, quality care.
  • Provide assessment, develop and implement the care plan, evaluate its effectiveness, direct emergency interventions, and collaborate with physicians, team members, and others to manage patient care in the patient's interest.
  • Consistently apply scientific knowledge from the social, biological, and physical sciences in the nursing process.
  • Formulate nursing diagnoses through observation of patients' physical conditions and behavior and interpretation of information from patients and others, including the health team.
  • Formulate age-specific care plans in collaboration with patients to provide direct and indirect nursing care for safety, comfort, hygiene, protection, disease prevention, and restorative measures.
  • Perform skills essential to the nursing action, explain health treatment to patients and families, and teach them how to care for health needs.
  • Evaluate care plans by observing patients' physical conditions, behavior, signs and symptoms of illness, reactions to treatment, and communicating with patients and team members; modify plans as needed.
  • Act as a patient advocate by initiating action to improve care or change decisions or activities contrary to the patient's interests or wishes, and give patients the opportunity to make informed health-care decisions before care is provided.
  • Supervise, direct, and appropriately delegate to care-team members based on their legal scopes of practice, preparation, and capabilities; effectively supervise nursing care provided by subordinates.
  • Serve as a clinical expert, role model, and clinical and educational resource to the team, patients, and families.
  • May mentor and assist in training and developing less experienced staff members.
  • Demonstrate professional accountability for nursing practice.
