Truist's GAAP profit falls 45% as it sells $7.7B LightStream loans to Carlyle

Truist Financial agreed to sell about $7.7 billion of unsecured consumer loans from its LightStream platform to Carlyle Group, the Charlotte-based bank said alongside its third-quarter results. The deal, signed October 14, is expected to close in the fourth quarter and bring about $7.2 billion in net proceeds. Third-quarter net income fell to about $799 million from $1.45 billion a year earlier. Diluted earnings per share dropped to $0.56 from $1.04, hit by a $1.45 billion pretax loss on securities sales. Adjusted diluted earnings rose about 12% to $1.16. Truist expects the sale to add about $850 million in Common Equity Tier 1 capital. Nidec sells former Copal Electronics to Carlyle Group for $710M

Nidec is selling its wholly owned subsidiary Nidec Components (formerly Copal Electronics) to an investment fund under US-based Carlyle Group for ¥102.98 billion. The transaction is scheduled to close on 1 December 2026. The sale is part of Nidec's business portfolio reform following accounting irregularities. The company announced a five-year management reform plan in May 2026, aiming to concentrate resources on core businesses and key growth areas. Nidec Components, established in 1967 as Copal Electronics, became a wholly owned subsidiary in 2014. The company manufactures pressure sensors, switches, torque sensors, and encoders for industrial equipment markets, holding a top global share in the polygon mirror market. Nidec concluded that transferring the subsidiary to Carlyle would enhance corporate value whilst allowing Nidec to focus resources on priority growth areas.
