Requirements

Knowledge of test piping systems, oxygen and acetylene cutting, basic rigging, pneumatic and electric tools, and leak test-tubing systems.
Learn and understand work-related safety hazards and safely operate related tools and equipment.
Be able to push, pull, lift, or carry up to 50 pounds, with occasional duties up to 100 pounds.
Have the physical ability to perform repetitive use of hands, arms, and legs; hand-eye coordination; and sedentary to heavy work.
Be able to communicate by hearing, comprehending, and speaking to perform work safely.
Be able to climb and maintain balance on steel or wood frameworks, stairs, ladders, and scaffolds.
Be able to grasp, lift, handle, carry, or feel objects frequently, and perform prolonged bending, twisting, walking, crawling, kneeling, overhead reaching, squatting, pushing, pulling, standing, and lifting.
Be able to walk on uneven surfaces, muddy conditions, loose rock, and loose or soft sand; work in confined spaces when required; and work in adverse weather conditions.
Communicate effectively with management and supervision, and read and write sufficiently to give and receive work directions and safety policies.
Use math and complete calculations, make decisions, concentrate amid distractions, and remember, examine, and observe details.

Responsibilities

Read and interpret blueprints, isometric field installations, material takeoffs, field sketches, and specifications.
Fabricate and install screw pipe, socket weld pipe, stainless tubing, carbon steel weld pipe, and stainless steel weld pipe.
Miter and fabricate pipe.
Use a beveling machine to prepare pipes and tubes for welding.
Lay out pipe penetrations.
Install piping of all sizes in pipe racks and underground.
Install valves, pipe hangers, and pipe supports.
Install steam and heat tracing.
Perform proper bolt-up of various sizes of pipe and valve flanges.
Assist other craft workers as needed.

Overview

The Pipefitter will have knowledge of test piping systems, oxygen and acetylene cutting, basic rigging, operation of pneumatic and electric tools, and leak test-tubing systems. Must learn and understand all safety hazards related to the work and learn to safely and effectively use or operate work related tools and equipment. Will be required to work in a plant operations or a construction jobsite setting.

Qualifications

Physical
