Requirements
  • A high school diploma or GED is required.
  • At least one year of experience working in the field of developmental disabilities is required.
  • Managerial or supervisory experience is required, with appropriate education, background, and experience considered.
  • CPR and First Aid certification are required.
  • AMAP certification is required.
  • SCIP certification is required.
  • Program-specific training is required.
  • A valid New York State driver's license acceptable to the agency's insurance company is required.
  • A current valid insurance card is required when using a personal vehicle.
  • Ability to work independently, with organizational skills, reliability, and sound decision-making ability.
  • Ability to lift or transfer individuals or items weighing at least 50 pounds.
  • Ability to perform bending, reaching, pushing, and pulling.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Reading and math skills sufficient to read doctors' orders, prepare recipes, and complete program documentation.
  • Demonstrated interest and ability to facilitate the personal outcomes of individuals receiving services.
  • Ability to adhere to the agency attendance policy.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule and at other programs as needed.
Responsibilities
  • Assist Residential Managers with the day-to-day operations of residential programs.
  • Supervise direct support professionals as needed.
  • Implement and document programs and each individual's total plan of care to encourage maximum independence and self-worth.
  • Coordinate shift routines and ensure assigned staff performance and quality services during assigned shifts.
  • Provide and document shift supervision, including evaluations, training, discipline, and commendations as assigned.
  • Provide, encourage, assist, and supervise individuals with personal care and activities of daily living.
  • Perform or assist with household functions, including meal preparation, laundry, housekeeping, and infection control.
  • Comply with state, federal, agency, and Office for People With Developmental Disabilities policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Perform medical and health-related functions in accordance with AMAP policy.
  • Coordinate, schedule, transport, attend, document, and follow up on individuals' outings and appointments as assigned.
  • Maintain resident records, ensuring accurate filing, compliance, and updates.
  • Operate agency vehicles in compliance with agency policies, procedures, and traffic laws, and document vehicle maintenance and condition.
  • Manage individual funds and petty cash and ensure appropriate use of individual and agency property and equipment.
  • Assist with coordinating, participating in, communicating about, and documenting individual meetings.
  • Provide and ensure a safe work and living environment in compliance with safety policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Attend required trainings, meetings, updates, and medical requirements.
  • Participate as an active member of the individual's team.
  • Perform other duties requested by the supervisor.
