Requirements
  • Registration with the provincial College of Occupational Therapists in good standing.
  • Acceptance of newly graduated licensed occupational therapists.
  • ADP authorization is considered an asset.
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification obtained within the past 12 months.
  • A valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle.
  • Ability to provide a current, clear Vulnerable Sector Screening.
  • Knowledge of applicable community resources available for clients and families.
  • Strong critical-thinking and problem-solving skills.
Responsibilities
  • Provide community visits to assess the abilities and needs of individuals.
  • Work with multidisciplinary teams and equipment vendors to facilitate function.
  • Provide in-home or school services to pediatric clients and treatment to adults with medical or health concerns.
  • Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team consisting of healthcare workers and other community resources.
  • Analyze the physical, cultural, social, and institutional environmental impacts on occupational performance and engagement issues.
  • Develop client-centered plans with clients and interprofessional teams, and adjust services to reflect a client-centered approach related to the physical, social, cultural, institutional, and economic environment.
  • Use effective, evidence-based problem-solving and judgment to address client needs.
  • Engage clients through a collaborative approach, building rapport and trust and achieving mutual understanding and agreement regarding services.
  • Maintain the knowledge, skills, and attitudes required to provide safe, efficient, and effective service in all areas of practice by keeping current with changes in the practice setting that affect scope of practice.
  • Maintain professional client records related to client encounters and plans in compliance with organizational policies and the standards of the regulatory body or Occupational Therapy college.
