About the Job

Requirements

  • A Bachelor of Science or Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering.
  • At least 3 years of relevant RTL or logic design experience.
  • Hands-on RTL design skills in Verilog/SystemVerilog, with a good understanding of synthesis, timing, and how RTL choices affect physical implementation.
  • Experience taking a design from micro-architecture specification through verification and physical implementation.
  • A solid understanding of clocking and reset concepts, including clock gating, clock muxing and dividers, glitchless clock switching, reset synchronization, and clock domain crossing.
  • Familiarity with design quality tools and processes, including lint, CDC/RDC, formal checks, and synthesis.

Responsibilities

  • Own SOC clocking logic end to end by writing synthesizable Verilog/SystemVerilog RTL for clock generation, distribution, muxing, division, glitchless switching, gating, and reset synchronization, from micro-architecture specification through tape-out.
  • Define and implement the SOC clock and reset architecture with the micro-architecture team by collecting clocking requirements from each chip unit and turning them into a coherent, verifiable design.
  • Own clock domain crossing infrastructure and CDC closure across the SOC.
  • Partner with the micro-architecture team to review specifications, agree on design intent, and provide feedback on implementation cost, timing, area, and power.
  • Work with the Physical Design team on clock tree implementation and constraints, partitioning, floorplan and timing feedback, trial synthesis, congestion and timing convergence, and physical design readiness.
  • Support Software and firmware teams on clock programming sequences, DVFS, and low-power and clock-shutdown flows.
  • Drive design quality through lint, CDC/RDC, formal checks, synthesis quality-of-results, connectivity checks, and structural checks.
  • Support SOC-level chip build and assembly, and develop and deploy automation flows to make RTL integration and design quality checking repeatable and scalable.
  • Support emulation, firmware, and post-silicon bring-up users of the design.

Desired Qualifications

  • A track record of clean deliveries to physical design, design verification, emulation, firmware, and other downstream customers.
  • Prior ownership of SOC-level clocking or reset architecture on a taped-out chip.
  • Experience with PLL/clock generator integration and clock tree constraint development with backend teams.

About the Company

NVIDIA

Designs the chips and software that power AI

NVIDIA designs the chips and software that power artificial intelligence and sells complete data center systems to cloud providers, AI labs, and other businesses, along with GeForce graphics cards for gamers. Its GPUs, chips that perform thousands of calculations at once, became the main hardware for AI after researchers used them to train the AlexNet image-recognition model in 2012. NVIDIA connects many GPUs with its own processors and networking gear into servers and rack-sized computers, and developers program them through its CUDA software. These systems bring in most of its sales, and it also makes chips for cars and robots. Jensen Huang co-founded NVIDIA in 1993, and it is based in Santa Clara, California.
