Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related STEM field is required.
  • At least 5 years of hands-on experience in digital electrical design and hardware analysis is required.
  • Experience designing with high-speed digital interfaces such as DDR4/DDR5, 1G/10G Ethernet, and PCIe is required.
  • Experience with standard communication buses including CAN, RS-422/RS-485, SPI, and I2C is required.
  • At least 3 years of hands-on experience using Signal Integrity and Power Integrity modeling tools such as Ansys SIwave or HyperLynx is required.
  • Advanced experience with professional schematic capture and printed circuit board layout tools, preferably Altium Designer, is required.
  • Experience with Worst-Case Circuit Analysis, parts stress evaluation, and derating is required.
  • Proficiency with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, spectrum analyzers, and power supplies is required.
  • Candidates must be U.S. Citizens or U.S. Permanent Residents due to ITAR/EAR export-control regulations.
Responsibilities
  • Architect and design flight avionics, high-speed processing boards, and payload digital systems from initial architecture through schematic capture, layout guidance, and bring-up.
  • Conduct Signal Integrity, Power Integrity, Worst-Case Circuit Analysis and Monte Carlo, and parts stress and derating analyses.
  • Partner with Flight Software, RF, Mechanical, and Thermal engineering teams on system-level tradeoffs, board pinouts, and physical packaging.
  • Collaborate with Contract Manufacturers on Design for Manufacturability and Design for Assembly reviews, PCBA assembly oversight, rapid prototyping, and hands-on laboratory troubleshooting.
  • Generate technical drawings, specifications, test procedures, and reports.
  • Lead board-level and system-level environmental testing, including thermal vacuum, vibration, and EMI/EMC testing.
  • Own flight hardware across its full lifecycle and translate complex design concepts into flight-ready hardware for on-orbit operation.
Desired Qualifications
  • A master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a STEM field.
  • Experience designing high-density FPGA or SoC processing systems for space or aerospace applications.
  • Familiarity with space derating and design standards such as EEE-INST-002, ECSS-Q-ST-30-11C, and IPC-2221.
  • Hands-on experience with circuit simulation software such as LTSpice and SIMetrix/SIMPLIS.
  • Knowledge of EMI/EMC/ESD design mitigations and testing protocols for spaceflight hardware.
  • Scripting and test automation skills using Python or MATLAB.
  • Ability and willingness to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Top Secret Security Clearance.
