Requirements
  • A minimum of five years of experience in information technology, including at least two years as a cloud technical architect within the past five years.
  • Experience with cloud projects using Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
  • Experience with infrastructure as code using Pulumi or Terraform.
  • Experience with containerized architectures using Kubernetes and Docker.
  • Experience designing continuous integration and continuous delivery pipelines using GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or an equivalent.
  • Experience working with local development environments such as Kind, Tilt, and Linux.
  • Experience supporting production environments, including on-call support, incidents, and monitoring.
  • Experience working in an agile environment using Scrum, retrospectives, planning, sprints, and backlog refinement.
  • Experience conducting code reviews and writing technical architecture documentation.
  • Ability to communicate appropriately with technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience supporting product teams.
  • Practical knowledge of secrets management using AWS Secrets Manager and External Secrets Operator.
  • Practical knowledge of database management using PostgreSQL.
  • Practical knowledge of observability using CloudWatch and monitoring and alerting tools.
  • Practical knowledge of cloud cost management and FinOps.
  • Practical knowledge of security using AWS WAF, OpenID Connect, and federated authentication.
  • Knowledge of designing performant and resilient solutions, including high availability and recovery.
  • Knowledge of platform engineering principles and platform as a product.
Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain the technological capabilities and components that make up the platform, prioritizing open technologies, recognized standards, and implementation simplicity.
  • Automate the complete software lifecycle in a modern cloud environment based on containerized architectures.
  • Write infrastructure as code.
  • Conduct code reviews.
  • Design continuous integration and continuous delivery pipelines.
  • Write technical documentation and architecture documents to ensure platform maintainability.
  • Lead and participate in technical workshops, adapting the level of explanation to the target audience.
  • Support product teams from architecture through implementation of new features and structure and standardize operational processes.
  • Provide rotating support for production environments with the team’s architects.
  • Participate in an agile and responsive operations team, including scrums, retrospectives, planning, sprints, backlog refinement, and roadmaps.
  • Promote platform engineering and platform-as-a-product principles.
  • Deliver platform capabilities and components through production.
  • Deliver infrastructure-as-code implementations through production.
  • Deliver improvements to continuous integration and continuous delivery pipelines through production.
  • Deliver security configurations, including secrets, access, and policies, through production.
  • Deliver improvements to observability, including monitoring, logs, alerts, and cost tracking, through production.
  • Maintain current technical and architecture documentation.
  • Deliver standards, guides, and best practices for product teams.
  • Implement improvements to operational processes, including deployment, rollback, and incident management.
Desired Qualifications
  • A university first-cycle degree in computer science or a related discipline, or an equivalency recognized under Quebec government standards.
  • Experience as a lead developer or software architect.
  • Knowledge of the Quebec government context and the SGCN.
